Beware to anyone who thinks they have a reservation at this hotel. We booked 2 rooms 6 months in advance (and called a week before to confirm) for a conference we were attending at the convention center. Upon our arrival, we were handed a letter stating that the hotel was overbooked and they were moving us to another Best Western. The woman at the front desk insisted it was the same distance from the convention center. Not the case whatsoever and in fact the hotel was in a bad part of town and it would require a bus ride to the convention center. We asked how it was decided who would be moved and she said the manager decided. He decided two days before we arrived and no one called to inform us of this. The manager was conveniently unavailable during check-in time. They also insisted they called all the other hotels in the area, but there were no rooms. Luckily we found one a block away on our own. The Marriott across the street was shocked by the customer service we recieved at the Best Western, and although they were booked up, they called several other hotels in an attempt to help us. I am aware that hotels overbook regularly, but it was overbooked by 25 rooms. I was most disappointed that no one called to inform us of the overbooking. I was appaulled by the customer service at this Best Western and I hope this encourages you to stay elsewhere.

This is a few blocks from Pine Avenue, about a 5 minute brisk walk, or there's a bus stop right outside. You can cut through the Convention Centre to get to Shoreline Village, takes about 10 minutes and is a 5 minute walk from the Long Beach Cafe for breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and of a good size, and the staff are very helpful. It's just across the road from the Marriott and a block from the Westin; same location fraction of the price.

I can't fault the place and would look forward to staying here again.

“Great Long Beach Location”

I travel to Long Beach fairly often. I wasn't planning to stay in this hotel, but the hotels that I usually book when I'm in Long Beach weren't available. This one seemed pretty good according to Expedia so I decided to give it a try. Now that I've stayed in this hotel, it's become my favorite Long Beach hotel.

Probably the best thing about the hotel is the location. It's downtown in a very safe, artsy area. There are a number of botiques, galleries, and nice restaurants in the vicinity. It's only one block from Ocean Boulevard and very convenient to other sites as well. It's directly across the street from a Courtyard by Marriott, and one block from a Westin.

The city has a free (or nearly free) tourist bus system called Passport. There is a Passport stop immediately outside the front door that goes to the downtown attractions. One block away, on Ocean Boulevard, you can catch buses that take you to Belmont Shores and other locations. That proved to be a lot of fun. We took the bus to Belmont Shores, ate in a nice Thai restaurant, followed by dessert in a German bakery. It's a fun part of town I hadn't seen before.

The hotel has an attached parking structure, and parking is reasonable for a major city ($7 per day). The lobby is quite attractive and free copies of the local newspaper and the Wall Street Journal are available. The beds are especially comfortable and the rooms are spacious. We enjoyed the small balcony overlooking the art galleries across the street. I think the rooms were recently remodeled--at least, it looked that way to me. The bathroom facilities are especially nice. The hotel provides free high-speed wireless internet in the rooms, and a computer is available in the lobby (for a fee) for those who don't bring a computer.

As I say, this is now my favorite Long Beach hotel. I'm certain I'll return.

Stayed 28th-30th. Great hotel and spotlessly clean. Rooms were excellent as were the bathroom facilities. Beds were super comfy too. Good value for money hotel and cheap and secure parking too. The indoor pool is not finished yet but do you really need it with all that sand and ocean just a block away?

We used this hotel as our base to visit LA and it was a wise decision. Only takes 30 minutes to get to the centre of LA from Long Beach and its nice to get back and unwind.

Its a 4 block walk to Ocean Blvd/Pine and Shoreline Village but it only takes five minutes. We were out till late and it was perfectly safe to walk around. The Sunday night was buzzing and the centre had a great vibe to it.

Ate at Kings on Pine and had a fab evening meal of grilled swordfish. That's something you don't see everyday on our menus at home !! Food and service were outstanding.

Don't eat at the hotel. Try the Long Beach Cafe just around the corner. The breakfasts are amazing. Our club sandwiches were soooo big we had to have a doggy bag and take them with us. I'm sure we could have lived on that one meal for the rest of the week! The staff were very pleasant and courteous. Prices are excellent and your coffee mug is never empty.

Loads to do including Catalina Island trips, dolphin and whale watching too. We'll be back to sample Long Beach again and will definately use this hotel next time.

“Good Value, Clean and Great Service”

Booked stay for next morning flight from Long Beach Airport. Pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hotel and the great staff. Have stayed at other Best Westerns and was thoroughly disappointed. Facility is brand new and well maintained.
I realized I lost my wallet while at the airport. The front desk representative was kind and patient. She had maintenance search my room and the parking garage. I was very grateful. Complimentary Wall Street Journal and Prevention magazine were great for the plane ride. I would definintely stay here again.
