We spent 3 nights here and it was very comfortable. We were there attending a KCM convention so it was nice to have a chair & ottoman to relax in and not have to sit on the bed or in one of those "desk" chairs day after day when we were at the room. The area where the hotel was located felt safe & clean. The walk to the convention center was only about 10 min. and another 5-10 min walk on down to the beach. If you don't want to walk there is public trans all around. There were enough fast food joints, from next door to within a couple miles, and a Vons grocery store a couple of blocks away. If you are a "people watcher" they have 2 channels that display the security cameras and that was very interesting to watch people coming and going. One ch. was for the hotel halls, elevator & snack room the other was the parking garage. My husband said he knew what to get me for christmas, a link to their cameras :) The room was pretty average as far as size, (maybe just a little bigger) but it didn't feel cramped. The bed was very comfy, it felt like it had a pillow-top mattress. The bathroom was roomy. The place felt pretty clean! There were 2 things that could be improved in my opinion. There is not a fridge & microwave and the fast-speed internet was not very good at all for live streaming broadcast. The sound would completely stop. The picture would be there but no sound. would have to "X" out of broadcast and sign back on, it would last a while (10-30 min.) and be gone. seemed to only happen for the LIVE steam. The staff was really good. The breakfast room was CLEAN. The contenental breakfast was nice . they served fresh fruit, pastries, had a toaster to make toast, 2 waffle irons, cold cereal, inst. oatmeal, bagels, jellies, cream cheese...juice, coffee, milk and more. I am going to try to upload some pics.

“at booking time they should tell everything!”

Best Western Hotel at the Convention Center

When I booked, they didn't tell me the pool was closed (my kids were very displeased about that). They also charged 7 $/nite for parking (not mentioned in the confirmation). I think this is not very correct.

We stayed at the Best Western Convention Center for 1 night before a cruise. Upon arriving at the Best Western, it has a very clean appearance. The hotel has parking available in a parking lot and garage facility. Parking is included with the price of the room.

Check-in was a bit of a wait. We arrived at 3:30 on a Saturday and there was only one desk clerk.

Once we got to our room and opened the curtains, the first thing noted was the older building within 5 feet from our window. Not all rooms face this building, but it was a bit of a bother to keep the drapes drawn because of the lookers from the apartment building next door.

The room itself was clean, but on the smaller side. The amenities were satisfactory. The bed was comfortable and the linens were clean and crisp. The A/C seem to struggle to keep the room at 78 degrees. I felt a bit too warm all through the night. There is no refrigerator and no mini bar. There is a small safe for valuables. The hotel indicated free WiFi for guests. However, we were never able to get it to work and the staff did not seem to be able to help with the issue. The hotel has no shuttle service for guests. It is located approximately 4 blocks from Pine St., which is the lively area of Long Beach - Night Life.

The restroom and shower are all spacious. The vanity in the restroom is quite large, but the sink is placed at the far end where the toilet is located. You actually have to straddle the toilet to use the sink. I have no idea why the sink was not placed on the other end of the vanity away from the toilet??? The restrooms have a large hanging mirror that does not cover the entire wall area. So when using the sink, you have to move back and forth to see into the mirror.

The Breakfast area is small with only 4 tables. The Breakfast selection is the standard Best Western fare, including the waffle maker - which is quite popular. The tables were not cleaned by staff after use. With limited sitting areas, people were standing around the room eating their Breakfast items which seemed somewhat awkward.

The Hotel is clean and the prices are affordable (esp. free parking). The staff tries to be helpful (even if they have no idea how their WiFi system works). If in Long Beach again, this hotel would not be my first choice, but I would certainly have no problems staying here again.

“Worst Customer Service EVER”

Beware to anyone who thinks they have a reservation at this hotel. We booked 2 rooms 6 months in advance (and called a week before to confirm) for a conference we were attending at the convention center. Upon our arrival, we were handed a letter stating that the hotel was overbooked and they were moving us to another Best Western. The woman at the front desk insisted it was the same distance from the convention center. Not the case whatsoever and in fact the hotel was in a bad part of town and it would require a bus ride to the convention center. We asked how it was decided who would be moved and she said the manager decided. He decided two days before we arrived and no one called to inform us of this. The manager was conveniently unavailable during check-in time. They also insisted they called all the other hotels in the area, but there were no rooms. Luckily we found one a block away on our own. The Marriott across the street was shocked by the customer service we recieved at the Best Western, and although they were booked up, they called several other hotels in an attempt to help us. I am aware that hotels overbook regularly, but it was overbooked by 25 rooms. I was most disappointed that no one called to inform us of the overbooking. I was appaulled by the customer service at this Best Western and I hope this encourages you to stay elsewhere.

This is a few blocks from Pine Avenue, about a 5 minute brisk walk, or there's a bus stop right outside. You can cut through the Convention Centre to get to Shoreline Village, takes about 10 minutes and is a 5 minute walk from the Long Beach Cafe for breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and of a good size, and the staff are very helpful. It's just across the road from the Marriott and a block from the Westin; same location fraction of the price.

I can't fault the place and would look forward to staying here again.
