My friend and I stayed there after a short cruise for 1 night. It was perfect. Within walking distance of the pier and the shops. Walked to the ferry to Catalina Island which was amazing.

The hotel room was nice and clean and the pool was open late. had a nice swim under the summer sky.

Stay at this hotel and go over to Catalina. Wonderful time.

“Great location and nice hotel but the area is desolate!”

I visited and stayed here for a work conference for 3 days and was impressed with the hotel. The location is ideal situated in the heart of Long Beach close to the water and across from the pier close to famous Pine Street. The hotel is quite large and the conference facilities and service were adequate and pleasant. The rooms are just right having all the amenities accept free wireless internet access. The staff was friendly and the prices are good for what you get. The restaurant onsite was not so good serving substadard food and not so good service. The pool area is very small but the hotel sits close enough to the beach area and there is a bike path in front of the hotel and a lagoon with paddle boats. It is in a great location across the bay from the Queen Mary ship. The city of Long Beach is desolate, having a tn of bars and restaurants but no people. It is almost deserted on most nights and not a big draw for anyone to come down from busy LA to visit this seemed like forgotten city. Even Friday night was dead. I would recommend this hotel, but I would say pass on Long Beach. If you come to California to visit, stay up closer to LA, its more exciting!

“Yes, very thin walls; not the nicest Hyatt in the world”

Hyatt Regency Long Beach

The Hyatt touches are there but the building is really pretty run down and if you are stuck next to teenagers, of whom there seem to be quite a few (this must be the hotel of choice for school groups, sports teams and the like), you will not get any sleep. The paintings on the wall literally shake when the door next door slams. It is literally next door to the convention center so if you have an 8:00 am session there, this would be a good hotel but otherwise it's not good for business travelers.

I chose this hotel because we were attending a lecture there in the main conference room (Dr. David R. Hawkins, March 8th).

I tried to book a four night stay directly with the hotel but it was fully booked. I went through TripAdvisor's alternate agencies and luckily edreams had availability for the same four nights.

We flew to Los Angeles with Swiss International Air Lines and learnt that the cabin crew use the Hyatt at Long Beach. Whilst we were checking in to the hotel the flight crew arrived!

We had reserved a King Bed but traded this for a double bed since we would be a few floors higher with a better view.

The view was great and we could clearly see the Queen Mary.

Breakfast was lovely and the waiter Rigo was a real star - so friendly and helpful :-)

The only minor in this hotel was that the walls weren't thicker/better insulated since I could sometimes hear a conversation in an adjoining room.

L'Opera was the best restaurant that we found. It is located alongside the Metro station.

We stayed at this hotel for one night, and I'm glad it was only one night. First off after seeing the pictures on the web site, they made it look like it was on the water, you have to cross a busy road to get to the marina that they show in front of the hotel. When we pulled up in front of the hotel I went to go check in and an employee said I had to leave him the keys while I checked in, So I unloaded my luggage onto a luggage cart and another employee came up to me and said that the luggage carts are for employee use only, I said to him that I would like to take my luggage up to my room right away, he said he would get someone to take it up with us. As I was self parking the car my wife said another fellow pulled up and the same employee said to him that he had to leave his keys with him, the guy said he would be back in a few minutes and the employee said that that would be ok( why the change, maybe he was looking for a tip from me for looking after my car while I checked in) The lobby was about the best thing there, it was like they spent all the money on the lobby, The rooms were old and badly painted and papered, our room had stained sheets and the carpet was wet about 3 feet out from the wall. The staff wasn't up to par, at the other Hyatts the staff called us by our last name, and asked us how our stay was, at this one no one seem to care. We stayed at 3 different Hyatt properties on this trip, and this was a dump compared to the other 2.
