Just to add what others have said, this is a nice hotel but the sound proofing is terrible especially if your room has an adjoining room door like ours did. You can hear the next door room conversations and TV as clear as a bell, not good when you want to sleep and they dont at all. You can also hear people using the bathroom upstairs, and there is an air vent with no cover above the main door to the corridor, so you can hear people out in the corridor too.
I think if you're lucky enough to have people next door who go to bed around the time you want to, the other sound issues would not be a major problem, but if you're unlucky then be prepared for no sleep.
It may sound like I'm going over the top but 3 nights of little sleep can really wind you up and we stayed in little motels on the same trip that were much better insulated than this hotel.
After that rant, the location as others have said is pretty quiet but the boardwalk area across the road is nice although if there is a convention on at the hotel, be prepared for long waits at the restaurants. The drives to LA's attractions such as Disney and Hollywood can take some time in traffic but as long as you allow for LA traffic everything is within a reasonable driving distance.
