If you are into lodging with youth groups/sports teams and sleeping on the floor- this is the hotel for you!
We spent two nights at the Hyatt in July 2008 and although we loved the location and the view, the hotel just does not live up to the Hyatt brand nor does the staff treat you as a valued customer.
Upon check in at 6:00pm, we were greeted with a large line and had to wait for about 15 minutes just to speak to a front desk clerk.
I had reserved a harbor view room with 2 double beds at the regular published rate through the hotel website. As we were being checked in, we were told that unfortunately there were not any more rooms with double beds and we were being "given" a room with one king. Since the front desk clerk could see that there were three of us, I asked him where the third person was supposed to sleep? He said he would be happy to give us some extra blankets and pillows so that she could sleep on the floor!! As I was standing there, someone else called down with the same question and they were given the same answer! After speaking to the manager and refusing to sleep on the floor, a double room was magically located for us.
We were not impressed with the room at all- not for the full rate we paid. Besides being in desperate need of an update (the room was modern in the early/mid-90s), the A/C system does not function properly. We ran it at 60 degrees for three days straight and never once felt cold. The towels are also old and some are on their last leg with mysterious stains. The bathroom has no vent or fan and the shower head didn't work properly either. Also the bed sheets did not seem like hotel sheets, but more like those used in nursing homes and hospitals with the institutional blue stitching on the top of the sheet.
Besides the very courteous valet staff, the other employees that we came into contact with at the hotel were not very helpful and some were plain rude.
I will not return to this hotel in the future. For the same price, I recommend the Westin up the street which has similar views and is just as close to attractions, restaurants and bars.
