Being someone that is neither fussy nor difficult to please (check out my other reviews), i honestly find it diffucult to find positives about this hotel. The hotel was advertised as a 3* but i don't think this is accurate. I understand that we were staying in a piece of history but i didn't find my stay comfortble at all.
After a smooth check in, we were allocated rooms that were previously staterooms on the ship. It was fairly small with 2 single beds and the decor was obviously original or a replica of the orginal (fairly dated). The bathroom was very small, but to be fair i can understand that you cannot expect huge rooms under the circumstances. However the carpet looked as though it hadn't seen a hover in a very long time and the bed linen was grubby. The walls were very thin, you could hear every conversation that went on in the next room, and at one point when our neighbour banned against their room wall (well i'm presuming thats what happened) one of our plugs fell out its socket. This just gives you an idea. There was a deck above our room with constant noise of footsteps and there was no hot water for the shower.
I can't comment on the bars or restraunts as we were not allowed to use them for the duration of our stay as they were reserved for private functions.
Long beach itself is nice. The ship is quite isolated but a regular bus will take you into the centre of Long Beach where there is a nice marina with shops, bars etc and good places to eat. It is about an hours drive from downtown LA which was OK. Universal Studios were fab.
For the money i paid i wouldn't have complained but if i ever went back to LA i think i would spend a bit more money and pick a better quality hotel.
