The Marriott in Long Beach is undergoing renovations, and not a moment too soon. I was in a corner room on the top floor for my two night stay ($199 per night AAA rate). The hotel is convenient to the airport, and a reasonable distance from downtown Long Beach. The food and beverage services are over priced. The housekeeping in the room was poor, and not of a typical Marriott standard. The bed was mushy and too soft. The front desk staff was friendly at check in. All in all, a good, safe location for a hotel but the overall experience was just okay...it could have been much better.

“Not up to standards”

Marriott Long Beach

30 Mar 2008

We just returned from a trip to stay at the Marriott because it was recommended for a wedding that we had to attend in Long Beach.
This hotel is undergoing remodeling and some floors are more modern then others. We stayed in an outdated room and it seemed a little dirty. The staff is inefficient and knows NOTHING about hospitality. The food and beverage outlets were the only thing up to snuff for the Marriott. We dined at the restaurant and sports bar and had room service and that worked out well, the food was tasty, fresh etc. The pool is okay but you hear airplanes all night outside of your room. Truly disappointing, try to stay elsewhere. We are marriott rewards members and it was not a nice experience.

I stayed here for a 2 day business meeting. It was great for a meeting with ample meeting rooms, some of which had high backed leather like chairs. The facility was very clean and looks as if most of the renovations have been done. Food served at the meeting was good although I did not try the restaurants. My sleeping room was very clean and looked newly refurbished with spotless carpeting and bathroom tile. It still had the old 20 inch TV although pictures of the renovations in the lobby showed large flat screen tvs. The temperatrue control in the room did not have a thermostat-just fan and warmer/cooler dial so it was hard to maintain a constant temperature. The bed had nice clean linens, down pillows and comforter. Although we were near the airport, my sleeping room was quiet. The pool was prettier than I expected. So if you are a businees traveler, this is good, right off the 405 freeway so you can get to LA or Orange County pretty easily, and of course right at the Long Beach airport. I would not recomend this for leisure travel to Long Beach as it is about 10 miles from the attractions-downtown, the Queen Mary, and the Aquarium. We cabbed downtown to dinner and ordered 2 cabs for our group when we were finished. One came promptly, but we had to wait nearly an hour for the next one! If you stay here and want to tour-get a car. Or stay at the Westin.

Great stay. Quiet property in a hidden corporate park location. Staff was very nice, rooms were clean BUT again, not the newest or most reburished. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked, pool (in and out, both heated) were great, gym was small but functional. Breakfast buffet for 15 bucks was a great deal with made to order hot food. Outside, they have nice garden areas with fireplaces and waterfalls. A very nice stay, safe, comfortable and free parking.

    • Disliked — Rooms need updating.

Stayed here just one night for a work trip. We actually stayed on the concierge floor. The snacks at night and the breakfast were a nice touch that made the stay a little bit better. We did ask for some restaurant recommendations there, and were less than impressed (had better luck at the desk) with the knowledge of the concierge. Had high speed internet without a charge, and that was a plus. The shuttle was a nice benefit- we were picked up quickly from the airport, taken and picked up from a restaurant and the mall, as well as taken to nearby offices the next day. The shuttle driver we had most of the time was really friendly and helpful, as were the people at the front desk. On the downside, they are renovating the hotel, but the room I had was still in need of renovation- the bathroom was on the depressing side. For the price, it wasn't as nice as it should have been. The stay was quiet and the bed was comfortable; I didn't wake once. All in all, I'd most likely stay here again for work.
