We have just returned from spending 5 days at this particular Residence Inn while we were on vacation in California. The hotel is very well maintained and the front desk staff was very friendly. We stayed in a 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom suite to accomodate myself,my husband, my sister-in-law & my 2 small children (age 4 & 5 months). The room was clean and the maid service was also impeccable. The pool area was very nice with an outdoor pool & spa. We did use both. We were disappointed to find that the pool was not heated as we happened to be there when it was in the upper 80's but the pool was much too cold to enjoy. The spa though nice was crowded with people as no one in the complex wanted to use the pool as it was too cold. But spending time mostly outside the hotel, this was not a huge issue.
What was disappointing was the service & maintenance of the breakfast buffet. The food was constantly running out & the wait for it to be refilled was ridiculous. The staff when questioned how long it would be or if they were bringing out any more items that they ran out of, seemed to be unfriendly if not rude. All you heard was mumbling on how put out they were. And when i say the food constantly ran out...it did. There was no milk for cereal, no eggs, and no batter for waffles all at the same time...but yet the staff was walking around unnoticing. They definitely didn't spend the time cleaning the tables...they were filthy. On our trip we stayed at 3 different Residence Inns as we traveled around California. Out of the 3 this was ranked in the middle. I would stay here again as the rooms were clean & front desk staff was friendly. Just don't expect much from the breakfast.

November 8-12, 2006 – Our home was being fumigated and we needed a place to stay with our three pets for four nights. Our choice was the Residence Inn in Los Alamitos, CA, (called Residence Inn Cypress) about six miles from our home. Both my wife and I were very happy with every aspect of the hotel.

We had reserved a studio suite for three nights using Marriott Reward points and paid for the fourth night which was $109.00. Check in was fast and friendly. We received a ground floor room as requested. Our suite was #122. In addition to the room rate, there was a $100.00 charge for our pets.

The studio suite was beautiful! It had a well equipped kitchen with full size refrigerator/freezer/ice maker, microwave, electric range, and dishwasher. There was a dining table for two and all the dishes, pans, etc. that you need in a kitchen.

The suite had a large work desk with complimentary high speed internet access which connected easily and worked perfectly. There were two corded telephones in the suite. The hotel has Marriott’s On-Command TV services which included a lot of cable channels as well as pay-per-view movies, video games, and music. We only used regular TV, but the movies ranged from $9.99 to $14.99 each.

In the living room area was a queen-size sofa bed, coffee table, and chair. The bedroom had a very comfortable queen-size bed with the new Residence Inn bedding package.

The bath vanity area is off the sleeping area and had a large mirrored wardrobe. The bathroom had a combination tub and shower. There were plenty of towels. Lighting in the suite was excellent.

Housekeeping was great, working around our dog, cat, and parrot and still getting the room clean each day! The room was spotless when we checked in and I am sure there will be no evidence of pets when the next guests check in.

We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet in the gatehouse each morning. Hot items included make-your-own waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, and rice. There was a good selection of breakfast breads, cereals, juice, and fresh fruit. The coffee was hot and good. We enjoyed chatting with other guests during breakfast. The hotel has a very friendly atmosphere.

Wednesday and Thursday nights we took advantage of the complimentary evening buffet. Wednesday was beef and macaroni and Thursday was vegetable lasagna. Both nights a green salad was offered as well as beer, wine, and soft drinks. The hotel has a “micro market” in the lobby with drinks and snacks, but I had to go across the street to buy milk!

There are many restaurants within a mile of the hotel including our favorite Katella Deli about ½ mile west. They offer a full-service restaurant as well as a take-out counter, deli, and bakery. The hot pastrami sandwich was so good I had it two nights in a row. Just a little further west on Katella is Tony Roma’s for barbecue. Heading east from the hotel are a number of restaurants including Red Robin and El Torito.

There is plenty of parking on all sides of the hotel and multiple entrances to each building. The hotel is four-story with two elevators in each building. The hotel has a nice pool area with a whirlpool spa and plenty of pool towels. There is also a sport court for basket ball. Right off the lobby area is a small exercise room with a weight machine, treadmill, and stair stepper.

We were very happy with our four-night stay at the Residence Inn in Cypress. All of the hotel associates were helpful and friendly, our suite was comfortable, and our pets were welcomed! The best recommendation we can give is that if we need to be out of our home again, we would choose the Residence Inn in Cypress.

This RI is very new and it shows - everything is still in tip top shape. I really preferred the original design of Residence Inn a long time ago, with all the separate 2 story buildings, but since those are no longer being built I'm happy to report that the rooms are still as nice.
The continental breakfast in the morning is really more than it's name - there were plenty of hot items and it's easy to fill up on the selections. This is no cheap orange juice and donuts type spread; it's a little of everything.
My only complaint with this property was that the front desk staff was not at all professional. Just a bunch of kids goofing off while getting guests checked in and out. Not a big deal, but not the impression Marriott is going for, I'm sure.

“A great hotel between Long Beach and Disneyland”

We stayed in the Residence Inn for two nights before taking our cruise out of San Pedro. Great location to everything without having to be on the freeways. It it so near to Long Beach, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, etc. It is almost next door to Costco's and near to some grocery stores (Ralph's). Having been in RI's before, we found this one up the the high standards we expect them to be. We especially loved the weeknight meals and breakfasts. The room was nice and quiet. Did not use the pool as it was too cold outside (major winter storm). Staff was helpful and friendly. We had a problem with the safe and it took a maintenance man to come to the office and open it back up to get my documents out of it. The Internet worked with my computer making it good to get our E-mail. The television set did not show all the channels it was suppose to show. We would stay at this RI again on a later visit.
