My husband and I had dinner at the Getty Center Restaurant last night, and we couldn't have asked for a better evening or venue to enjoy some delicious food and great wine with close friends. The Restaurant is located on the grounds of the Getty Museum, high above the Santa Monica Freeway with ocean and mountain views on a clear day (which we had last night). You park down below and take a tram up to the museum and restaurant. There is a $10 parking fee, but the museum is free. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. We had a 7:30pm reservation, but were a little late, as we were enjoying one of the exhibits at the museum before dinner. No problem-we were shown immediately to our lovely table. Service was attentive and efficient. There was a prix fix menu offered, as well as the regular a la carte menu. We opted out of the prix fix menu, but there were a couple of items on that menu that the guys wanted. Our waiter got permission from the chef and they were accommodated. The prix fix menu was $85 and $115 with wine pairings for 5 courses-not too bad in my book. Our waiter was also very helpful in giving recommendations for wine. We had a lovely, light white Sav Blanc with our salads/appetizers and a delicious Pinot Noir with our entrees. We asked our waiter to surprise us with the best dessert for the table. He served us a yummy butterscotch pudding with chantilly cream. We loved it! The food is exquisitely presented and so tasty! No one at our table was disappointed. We practically closed the restaurant down and didn't feel any pressure to hurry. As we were leaving, the manager inquired about our visit and chatted with us for several minutes-so nice! The tram stops running before 10pm, so we had to take a shuttle down to the parking garage. The restaurant calls the shuttle for you and even offered to escort us to the shuttle stop. Overall, just a very nice, relaxing , lovely evening. There was absolutely nothing I could complain about. I've had lunch in the restaurant as well, and again, a lovely experience. Very nice place to enjoy a special dinner or lunch, and if you happen to be there on a clear day-it's especially nice!

Thank you for you kind review of the Restaurant at The Getty. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your dinner with us. There is something truly magical in the evenings up here. We have had such a demand for dinner that we have begun serving dinner on Friday nights through the summer. This gives our guests one more night to check out the Ritts exhibition or the upcoming Klimt exhibition, stroll through the gardens, catch a stirring sunset and enjoy a relaxing dinner. We certainly hope that we can repeat your evening again and again.
