Booked this hotel knowing that it was not in the best area of town. The neighborhood was not the problem. Upon arrival late at night, parking was a chore even with a deck. After checking in, we bring our bags in from the car, ask where the elevator is -- yep, it's broken. Four flights of stairs with no help or apologies. Ok, fine. Then up to the room, which would have been fine if it were clean. Hairs everywhere, even liquid makeup drops on the floor. The saving grace was the great coffee shop downstairs. I woud not stay there again.

Came back yesterday from our stay at this hotel and all in all - very impressed. The only faults throughout were the main lift not working and we had quite an old shower in our room - aprt from that thgough - great.

The room was huge with two double beds in, kitchen area and MASSIVE bathroom. The room decor was superb and much more like 4/5 star room from my experience. The hotel lobby has just been done and also looks very smart too.

Cafe 101 is great. Service is good and the food is good. Quick and convenient.

I'm a little confused with people not wanting to go out at night araound the area?? I didn't have a problem, its situated in a really nice area. Its a little further from Hollywood Bvd than we thought, but still in a nice area, with shops and bars nearby.

My only bad comment would be the staff behind the desk, whilst they were helpful enough - just didnt like them!

But yeah, great hotel, great rooms, great value..

Stayed for 4 nights at the BW Hollywood Hills and overall had a great stay. On first impressions we were a little apprehensive, seemed quite shabby in some of the public areas, i.e. lobby, elevator area and car parks a bit dark and creepy but on reaching our room (?122 - at pool level), we were pleased with what we got. TV, fridge and microwave all worked fine and bathroom was lovely and modern. Only a couple of small issues - bathroom window wouldn't close properly but on looking out we were about 15 feet above the overflow car park so no real security problem and secondly no safe in room which meant having a safe deposit box in reception and having to ask for it every morning which was a pain. Loved Cafe 101 - ate there 3 times and always good service and nice food. As for the location, great access to the 101 freeway but a little further from Hollywood Bvd than we thought; as we had a car, it wasn't a problem, although probably wouldn't have attempted the walk at night.

The hotel is run down and in a less than friendly neighborhood. Although many attractions are within walking distance, we were advised to drive.

The desk clerk mislead us to stay in the original building saying that the rooms were bigger and of the same quality as the new one. This is absolutely untrue. He also told us that although the elevator was broken, it would be fixed in a day. It wasn't- - try walking up four flights of stairs!

Alhough the room was newer, the renovations were cheaply done and poorly thoughtout. The closet was in the bathroom. The linens were of poor quality and questionable cleaniness, and the towels were like sandpaper.

There is no security in the parking area and the hotel. Any one can walk into the hotel, particularly from the resturant area. This is the first hotel that would not cash a check because it doesn't keep much cash on hand. What does this say about safety?!

I strongly recommend that you not chose this hotel which is barely two stars and expensive. I discovered that well regarded hotels in the Rodeo Drive area offer terrific deals. Go to one of them!
