I don't know, I'm not a native of L.A., haven't stayed in many hotels there, but we loved the B.W. Hollywood Plaza. Well appointed room, and according to my research was value price for the location. What more do you need? Walking distance to downtown Hollywood. We paid $150 through the hotel website.
Noise? Never heard a peep. I wonder if some people just don't sleep well, blame it on the hotel. We live in a super quiet secluded rural home, neither of us had any problems here. And we go to sleep by 11:00.
Tip for jazz fans: try the Baked Potato nightclub. A couple of miles north. Very cool, great musicians. Intimate.

I loved this hotel, I thought it was really up to standard.

The pool was lovely, especially since we had the lovely weather for it! It goes as deep as 8ft which was cool. The jacuzzi was nice too!

Room was lovely, bathroom very snazzy. The TV was a flat screen with around 60 odd channels....it was near luxury.

There was a fridge, microwave and a coffee maker in the room as well, but after buying milk for cereal and putting it in the fridge, it froze the next morning!? Maybe they need to adjust their temperatures!

There was air conditioning in the room, but it was right beside the bed, which blocked alot of air coming out...bit of a silly place to put it, but it wasn't too bad.

The location was great, it's only down the road from the Highland Centre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

All in all, it was a great hotel and I'd definitely consider going back. I really liked how the rooms were all under porches outside...however, people going to their rooms late at night like to talk quite loudly...which reverberates around the whole floor >:(

After reading about bed bugs and roaches, I was apprehensive about staying here, but booked my room nonetheless as it is, in fact, very close to EVERYTHING. It was close to the freeway entrance, as well. GREAT LOCATION! The front desk kept it very simple and easy for both check-in and check-out, which was a relief considering how tired we were. The room was clean and the beds were sufficiently comfortable - NO BUGS! The only thing that they could improve upon is their shower... It was all hard water and felt kind of slimy. Other than that, great stay at the Best Western Holywood Plaza!

This was our second visit to this Best Western location. We stayed here in 2005 and had a pleasant stay. It is very convenient to the Hollywood Blvd. and Highland complex. Nearby Hollywood attractions include the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Graumann's Theatre, the Kodak Theatre.

Parking can be a challenge especially during weekends but we always managed to find a spot.

This was our second stay at this hotel, but we won't be staying there again. This visit started off on a bad note when the front desk tried to charge us about $50 more per day claiming that the rate that we had received on our confirmed reservation through "bestwestern.com" was just an estimate. After complaining, the clerk agreed to talk to the manager and eventually called to tell us that we would receive the rate that I had agreed to pay on my reservation. Beware of this since others have complained on TripAdvisor about "fluctuating" prices at this particular hotel.

The rooms have outdoor entrances connected by walkways. The people next to us stood outside their room smoking and talking at all hours of the day since they were in a non-smoking room. We could hear them talking while we were inside our room.

Our sleep was interrupted repeately on two of the three nights that we stayed at this hotel. The second night was worse with yelling and the sounds of things being broken coming from a room on the other side of the walkway and one floor below us. We called the front desk to ask that they send security to stop the noise but it continued for several hours. The next day we complained to the front desk that nothing had been done about the noise after we called. They apologized and acknowledged that many other people had also complained. Later that day the manager left us a voice mail informing us that she had given us one of the three nights free. The least expensive of the three nights was deducted instead of one of the two more expensive nights with actual noise issues.

This hotel had other noise problems also. We could hear cars coming and going from the parking area since the rooms are located directly above it. Some of those cars had the need to honk in the middle of the night for some unknown reason. The sound of trucks driving on Highland could also be heard in the rooms.

If location is all that is important for you, this is a great hotel. If you care about quiet and uninterrupted sleep and friendly service, this might not be the place for you.
