I booked 2 rooms at this property in November 2011. First, the location, you can't beat the location if your plans include spending some time hitting the various Hollywood must see sites.Located on Sunset Boulevard, just a few blocks from the central Hollywood Blvd area where Grauman's Chinese theater is located. Most of our trips up to the Boulevard were on foot, and even though it was uphill, was not too far to walk. Great shopping, and generally pretty good vibes once you're on Hollywood Blvd. The Walk of Fame is there, the tourist shops are there, all the tours start there, etc. Perfect location.
The rate was very reasonable at around $99/per room. The rooms are very small, and reminded me of a '50's hotel, when folks were a bit smaller in size. The rooms, while being rather small, still accomodated us well, but there wasn't a lot of free space to roam once inside. The pool is located in a central plaza, and the rooms all surround the pool, kind of a bungalow feel to the place, not bad. Free in rooom Wi-Fi was very nice as well.
The free breakfast was as you would expect at most Hotels these days, danish, muffins, fruit, yogurt, etc. Good quality, and as others have mentioned, will save you a lot of money for breakfast, as we were a party of 6. One trip to the House Of Pancakes across the street was about $100, or equivalent to 1 room night, so the free breakfast was a great value to us.
Parking is at a premium in Hollywood, so we decided to pay the $8/night parking fee, and parked in the basement of the garage, which turned out to be a godsend. It was a little cramped, but has a large metal gate to keep the cars safe and secure, as well as cameras to monitor the activity. I would definitely recommend this arrangement, as the area can be a little dicey, not everyone in Hollywood is rich, and there were a number of the less fortunate passing by the front of the building daily, but more so in the evening. Nothing too troubling, just be aware of your surroundings. There's an In & Out burger place next door, you have to try this when you're in LA, I believe the chain is only in a few Western States at this time.
All in all, Great Location, Decent Room, Free Wi-Fi, Free Breakfast, overall, Very Good.
