The room was clean and spacious, if a bit sparsely furnished and decorated.

There was a noisy air conditioner that threw a frigid draft across the entire room. There were only 2 speeds - REALLY LOUD and off.

If it wasn't for this deal breaker, this would be a good hotel.

“GOOD FACILITIES SPOILT BY AN AWFUL SERVICE”

We stayed 2 n ights in this hotel selected because of its location off Monterey, and an attractive senior price offered.
The Hotel location is rather good, not too far from Monterey, easy to find. The room was rather clean, large and convenient. Our stay would have been OK if any acceptable service provided.
BUT our previous request for a quiet room was not observed at all, and our room was facing a noisy ice-vending, besides the lift! Is senior price meaning noisy room? The hotel pretended to be full, we were proposed another room, but with an extra charge of 40% the initial room price (before taxes)! The service is deinterested, all the staff being constantly devoted to television watching. The breakfast is very poor : disgusting coffee, no hot water for tea making, no fresh eggs cooked, soap-tasting waffles, poor quality orange juice. The tables and chairs (located in front of overflowing litter bins) were not clean, and when service was asked, we were answered: just do it!
During the 2 days stayed in Ramada Hotel, we didn't see any smiling staff. We shall not recommend this Hotel (even taking account of the "senior price" advantage, and shall never come back again!

Previous reviews very accurate. Huge room, clean and comfortable.Pretty soulless place, but very comfortable. Staff polite but disinterested. Very easy to find, and Italian restaurant opposite excellent, although expensive.
Room huge and bathroom lovely and clean. We could hear TV next door, but fortunately not for long! Breakfast help yourself and the strangest eggs I've ever seen! Oval and flat, bright yellow, looked like scotch pancakes!! Plenty of cereal etc, toast would have been welcome. Make your own waffles popular. Very convenient for Monterey, and much cheaper for the standard.

I read all the reviews on Tripadvisor before booking all my hotels on a family trip up the coast of California. Most of the reviews seemed positive on the Ramada Marina, so I booked. Now looking again at the reviews I have to chuckle. The hotel itself is nice, well kept, etc. But I did notice a few disgruntled customer reviews regarding customer service.

When you are putting out $172.00 for one night stay on a 2 week holiday, the dollars add up quickly, as well, you encounter many hotel chains etc. Out of all the hotels we visited on our trip, the Ramada Marina had the worst customer service out off all the hotels we stayed at.

I disputed paying $15.00 for a rollaway bed that my son (11 yr. old) said hurt his back. He told us the next morning. On feeling it, it had coils you could feel to the touch.

It took me 45 minutes to try and resolve this with Hiren Patel the front desk clerk to no avail. He said he had no authorization. In this day and age of communications no one can convince me that he couldn't contact someone with authority!! Furthermore, there should always be someone that can make a dicision on reimbursing $15!!! How ridiculous!! I asked if he would contact a supervisor he said he had no way of contacting him. I asked him to contact Ramada Customer Care, he refused. I asked to use the phone which he refused. He wanted me to go back to the room I just checked out of, to use that phone!! I got so upset he finally let me use the "business centre" phone. (At this point it wasn't about $15, but how ignorant this person was!!)

I put in a formal complaint to Ramada Cust. Service. I was given a "Case #" and was told told I would have to wait 1 wk. to see if the hotel would respond to me, as they are a franchise and independently owned.

The hotel did not respond, so Ramada is reimbursing me for 1/2 my stay, approx. $85.00.

I am happy with the results but I don't think the owners should operate like a country bumpkin hotel with no policies when they are representing a large hotel chain like Ramada.

Beware owners of the Ramada Marina, the internet is a great source for people when traveling. I would never recommend this hotel unless you all got some customer service training. The most ironic part of this is I'm not complaining about the facility itself, but the people running it.

“Much better value than Monterey”

I stayed in the hotel with my nephew from 30th June to 3rd July and we had a great time.

While the hotel lacks character you can not argue that it provides excellent value for money rooms that are both clean & spacious. The free Breakfast was great too.

We had a room with 2 double beds and it was significantly larger than the other hotels we stayed in during our travels.

Staff were friendly but not forward or pushy.

Location wise the hotel is great ... near to many family restaurants and shops.

Monterey is about a 15 - 20 minute drive from the hotel and we found plenty parking downtown Monterey for the different sights.

Tips for Monterey ... go & visit the Aquarium, it's worth every $. If you go at the weekend the tip would be to go early for the 10am opening and when the Aquarium gets busy (Noon to 3pm) take a break, get your hand stamped as you leave, and come back later to finish off.

Other tip would be to take a Whale Watching trip. We went with [--] They were great and we saw many Whales, dolphins etc. Very friendly service
