I just stayed at the Comfort Inn in Mariposa after visiting Yosemite National Park and was quite pleased with the hotel. We arrived late after driving from Yosemite and decided to look around for a hotel. I had previously read the reviews here and looked at pricing on websites and decided not to book any room in advance without seeing it first. I was quite pleased with the hotel and the front desk staff was very helpful. They told us up front about the various rates available and we took advantage of the AAA rate savings. They also directed us to the various food choices in town which was helpful at the late hour. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. The HVAC worked well and kept us comfortable through the night. The bathroom was large and clean although it was a big plain and the toilet was noisy when flushed. The TV worked fine and had a variety of stations to choose from. The beds were firm but comfortable and the linens and furniture were in good condition. The only drawback I can see is there are no elevators and you may have to climb either one or two flights of stairs to your room. The hotel is on the western outskirts of town and up on a hill so it was also a little hard to locate after dark. There are other options available but we did not check around to compare rates or rooms as this was perfectly fine and the rate was reasonable for the location. None of the hotels in the area are high-end and apparently only one hotel has elevators so if this is an issue you should check first, otherwise I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

Rude & irresponsible Manager although staff was very co-operative. No shower water pressure it was like regular tap water falling from shower without sprinkling. Air conditioners were very old unable to blow cool air of 1987 old Amana made.
Wall papers in room were randomly peeled off. Matresses required to be replaced very old.
coffee time was upto 9 PM when we wake up it was closed.
Motel is very old modified with new franchise name which also hurts the credit of franchise

The hotel was fine overall, until the neighbors in the adjoining room checked in and used the plumbing. It sounded like a jet engine going off every time they used the shower or toilet! Woke us up out of a sound sleep with the loud, continuous noise. The walls were paper thin - could hear their conversation, their television, etc. Would not recommend this hotel.

I was a little worried to book here after reading the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor. I was really pleasantly surprised, though. We had booked this hotel off Choice Hotels' website for $75/night, which is a pretty good price in the Yosemite area. The room was really large and comfortable but it did smell a bit musty. The free internet worked great and breakfast was ok--they offered overly sweet juice, waffles, cereal and cold eggs. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful but I asked for a quiet room and they told me all rooms were quiet, only to put me next to the reception which definitely was NOT quiet in the early morning hours when housekeeping came in. I would stay here again, but Mariposa is a really small town and I might be inclined to stay in Oakhurst for the convenience next time in the Yosemite area.

“Mixed feelings about this one...”

Recently traveled to this part of California to visit Yosemite, it was a busy time in the area, not too many hotels were available. So I ended up looking on the outskirts of Yosemite and came across this one, we only needed a room for the night so based on some relatively positive reviews on here I gave it a shot.

To save some money, and because we were only staying for one night, one of the room options stated "small room", with a "queen bed", so I figured one night, why not.

Check-in was a breeze, staff was friendly and welcoming. Pointed me to the room, which was not in one of the main buildings with all of the stairs, she said we could park right in front of the room. I was thinking to myself GREAT... no need to lug our luggage up the stairs. The room turned out to be a small part of a larger "suite", which was really a cottage type structure with multiple rooms. So it looks like when the cottage suite is not fully used they rent this additional bedroom as a "small room".

The room itself was clean, not terribly up-to-date, yes it was small, but I was expecting that. The bed was not very comfortable, the linens were average. There was a door at the one end of the room which could be opened to make this room a part of the larger "suite". Around 10pm the occupants of the other part of the suite arrived, and we quickly found out the walls of this room were paper thin, we could hear every word of every conversation these people had, they unpacked, talked about their drive. Even the air conditioner did not mask the noise. We eventually were able to fall asleep. Got up early the next day to check-out to continue on our journey, and we were trying so very hard to be as quiet as possible, and it is very difficult to not make noise when trying to pack up.

We took advantage of the complementary breakfast, which was not bad. Check-out was fine; again the staff was super nice.

My only real issue is with the room, I really think that it is unfair that they offer it for $89, and do not fully explain the logistics. And really if the walls are that thin I'm not sure it should be offered at all.

I'm not sure that I would select this hotel again, I would definitely not pick the "small room" or any room attached to the cottage suite. And because of the stairs to all of the other rooms, I'm not sure how convenient that would be with luggage.
