BGI is delightful in practically every way, but what my wife and I maybe liked most was the very convivial atmosphere. The public areas, both indoor and outdoor, lent themselves to relaxed chats with other guests. And we're not even all that social, by nature. Hmm ... OK, if I do have a quibble, it's that BGI isn't quite within walking distance of Mendocino. (At least not a safe walk; that's a busy road and bridge.) But it makes up for that in the feeling of romantic isolation. Also: good food, lovely rustic decor, nice bath and shower, lots of outdoor seating, comfy beds ... I could go on!
