My wife and I had a charming five day stay at the Brewery Gulch Bed and Breakfast for our 28th anniversary. The atmosphere was laid back, quiet, and relaxing. We had the Osprey room on the second floor. A nice view through the trees to one of the ocean inlets of the bay. The bed and pillows were perfect. Flat screen tv with plenty of channels. The fireplace was a little disappointing, it was gas only and was used mainly for heating the room. Nice bathtub with a window encompassing the great view. No dressers for clothes. And before I forget, no cell phone service. The Inn did provide a land line in the room and long distance calls were free. There was also wi-fi throughout the Inn and in your room with good speed connection. The staff was courteous and helpfull. The free breakfast each morning were top quality as was the evening semi-dinner. Each nite several dishes were served along with local vintage wines. Always found the dishes excellent and followed by a tastey dessert. It was a perfect setting to talk with fellow guest about the day and travels. The town Mendocino was a five minute drive away which for us was just right. The vineyards of Anderson Valley were about a half hour away and would highly recommend a day there. Also had a great dinner at Albion Inn Restaruant which is a beautiful drive of about 15 minutes. This trip ranks highly on our list of best and will certainly do it again.

My first trip to Mendocino, although I've lived in CA for over 10 years now....just returned last night. The Brewery Gulch Inn was just what the Dr ordered for a restorative B&B experience.
I must say, the website & subsequent photos do not do it justice. We booked it purely on the reviews we read here at Trip Advisor....and all the rave reviews were true, and then some!
The outside of the inn is very modest & not especially memorable, but the instant you open the lobby door, you are transported. Craftsman architecture but with a zen-like ambience. A lovely 'great room' lobby that is vaulted up to the 2nd floor ceiling with a gorgeous 4 sided fireplace in the middle. An amazing patio/deck that overlooks the lovely landscaping, with Pottery Barn/Restoration Hardward like patio furniture, all facing the beautiful cove.
Our room was perfect. We stayed in the Raven. A corner room upstairs with windows on 3 sides, all of which opened for a refreshing breeze & the sound of frogs & crickets at night (which I love!). A nice flat screen tv mounted about the nice gas fireplace (we tried to watch one of the DVDs they have from an immense DVD/book library, but honestly, watching a movie there just didn't seem 'right' somehow)
The bathroom is nothing short of stunning. My shower there was almost a religious experience....amazing.
But as beautiful as the inn itself truly is, it's the little touches & the attention to detail that impressed us the most. I won't spoil it for future first time visitors, but suffice it to say, you won't be disappointed. A vast world apart from all the other inns & B&Bs we've visited in CA.
I hope to return again & again.

“Best Place for a Romantic Celebration/Getaway”

Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary (2006) at Brewery Gulch Inn and came back this year to celebrate our 27th. We were going to visit every two years but we now have decided to do our anniversary celebrations at the Inn. The hands-on Owner/Manager, the friendly staff, added amenities and the food (plus wine selections) make for a memorable stay. Looking forward to 2009 and beyond!

My husband and I took a vacation and we wanted to stay somewhere off the coast. Brewery Gulch Inn is a must to see. The place is beautiful and the food was excellent. The room was very nice with a fireplace, oceanview, comfortable bed, great TV and all the amenties that you need. If you want somewhere to stay to get some R&R or a romantic getaway this is the place to go I highly recommend it.

A very comfortable hotel in a magnificent setting, but what made it very special was the naturally friendly hospitality we received from all the staff, including the hands-on owner, who went to great lengths to make our stay memorable in every way. Highly recommended !! My only regret is that my wife and I couldn't stay longer during our two week visit to California.
