“A great experience”

Joshua Grindle Inn of Mendocino

14 Mar 2008

This was a lovely place to stay. Very quaint and old-fashioned.
It was my favorite experience of our entire trip to California.
Very clean and well-kept with lovely gardens. It's a place
I hope to get back to. The Innkeeper was very nice and very
accommodating.

“overrated . . .”

Joshua Grindle Inn of Mendocino

I wish we could add to the glowing comments of other guests. Our stay was average as B and B's go. The configuration of the Inn makes it hard to meet other guests, and/or feel connected with the hosts. We arrived here following a stay at the Inn at Occidental which was just right in every way, so the comparison may not be fair. Advice to the innkeepers at JG is to expand your reception area and include a common room close to the heart of the Inn.

This was our second visit to Joshua Grindle. Last time we were there was in 2001. Mendocino is one of my favorite long weekend getaways from the Bay Area, and we had such a wonderful stay years ago we decided to visit again.
Our experience at JG was again magnificent, even though the weekend turned rainy and stormy.
Our room (The Master) was large yet cozy, perfect for reading by the fire on a stormy day. The whirlpool tub was a perfect fit too.
The breakfasts were filling and tasty.
The innkeepers, Charles and Lindsey, were fantastic.
And we highly recommend Cafe Beaujolais for a classy dinner.
We'll be back, Joshua Grindle!

My wife and I had a wonderful weedend at the Joshua Grindle Inn. We stayed in the main building in the Grindle room which had a view of the ocean. We had one day of sunshine and blue skies and the next day a powerful storm rolled in. Charles and Lindsey took good care of us and are both very helpful with restaurant suggestions, sight seeing and anything else we needed. The room was large and there were cookies and wine welcoming us. The king size bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and a lot of thought went in to the menu. We would highly recommend 955 Ukiah (elegent dining) and Mendocino cafe (light faire) restaurants.

I cannot say enough about this place - the grounds are absolutely gorgeous & well maintained. Our reception was warm, friendly, and not overbearing. Charles & Cindy pay great attention to detail and are very accommodating and gracious innkeepers. I stayed three nights in the South Cypress room which was extremely clean and comfortable with all the comforts of home. Breakfast was scrumptious and plentiful. I also loved that the inn was within walking distance to town but far enough away to feel private and truly relaxing.
