I usually find B&B's to be a mixed experience, often too precious to be comfortable, too self-conscious to be charming, but there was no mix here: it was all comfort and charm in a way that felt just right. Owners Charles and Cindy, and manager Lindsey, are hospitable and accommodating in every way, and our room (the entire inn) has so many touches that are meant to be genuine, not pretentious -- like the gas fireplace stove on a thermostat, the robes in the closet, the screen inserts for the windows, the long padded bench for luggage, the Adirondack chairs in the well-designed garden, the afternoon sherry and tea in the parlor, the fridge stocked with complimentary bottled water and soft drinks (and available for storing your own perishables). . . and the gorgeous wrap-around porch where the Grindle's fabulous breakfast can be enjoyed on a sunny morning (of which we had two out of two, lucky us!). I appreciated that the bed wasn't piled with gratuitous pillows -- we had just the right number (two per person) -- and that the mattress was perfectly comfy without being overly cushy. There was even a friendly cat willing to oblige if you missed your own feline.
