Even though I am not a fan of B&Bs we seem to return to this wonderful Inn for special occasions. There are several spacious accommodations separate from the main bldg. and we have our favorite. From the minute that you arrive, it is like visiting family or old friends. Needless to say, the breakfasts are fabulous, whether indoors or on the porch and they are served at reasonable hours - no rushing to get up at the crack of dawn. A bonus for anyone looking for great restaurants are those within walking distance of the Inn. We were especially fortunate during our stay to get to sample the Chef's daily special of excellent fish at the Cafe Beaujolais, perfectly prepared as we had requested - a real treat.

All the charm of old Mendocino in an updated historical home. Lovely grounds. Some rooms have ocean views. The owners and staff are wonderfully hospitable and the breakfast was delicious. Be sure to stay here on your next Mendocino visit.

“A wonderful and romantic getaway”

We had a wonderful time as a "first timer" at the Joshua Grindle Inn. We had the opportunity to stay in the Lupe Suite which is a house a block or so down the street from the main building.

As many previous guests has mentioned, the best part of this B&B isn't the rooms themself, but the little personal touches that the staff makes for you.

Upon check in, we not only had a bottle of wine and fresh baked cookies in congrats of my birthday, but also little touches such as candy and soda's as well. We also had a call about 10 minutes after we had settled to make sure everything in our room was in order.

The owners were out of town this weekend, but Lindsey was all we needed to have a wonderful stay. We had to leave early (4 am) the day of our checkout due to unexpected business plans. Lindsay, the innkeeper went out of her way to ensure we had breakfast for our next morning, even though she did not have to. She graciously packed us muffins, biscotti's, and to-go coffee cups so that we could make coffee and tea in the morning prior to our departure.

The one morning we did get to enjoy breakfast, it was truly wonderful. My husband, who does not like wafffles said that he was a fan for the first time ever. Since it was a slow weekend, Lindsay also let us check out the other rooms in the inn for future stays. They all had their special touch... but my husband and I both agreed that the Lupe Suite beat them all.

The only slight issues we had... when using the blow dryer (as provided by JGI), I blew a fuse both mornings. Also, the bar claw tub is beautiful, but I ran out of hot water before I could ever get it full. Depsite those minor issues, the overall stay was wonderful.

Overall, you will not be let down. This is a wonderful romantic getaway for couples as well as a quiet and relaxing getaway for singles. We would highly recommend it to others.

We will be back.

“Bliss”

Joshua Grindle Inn of Mendocino

As much as I want it all to myself, I would reccomend a stay at this Inn to anyone - the property deserves all the business that comes thier way. The Innkeeper made well-rounded recomendations for my boyfriend and I (both first-timers in Mendocino) and provided lovely breakfasts for two tough customers. The room (Tower I) was clean and comfortable, the staff was great, and the location was perfect. I wouldn't bother paying extra for an Inn with a view - not when you're a 2 minute walk from the headlands!

We loved the inn - so relaxing. We had the Lupe's Suite in the little house down the hill from the main inn, but it was beautiful and quiet and had a great bathroom. We did run out of hot water one day but it wasn't the inn's fault - there was a problem with the water heater which was fixed within hours. The breakfasts were excellent, the innkeepers were so friendly and helpful, and the town is wonderful. The inn has great specials on its website off season - make sure you check before you book.
