My wife and I attended to see the Mendocino Film Festival and were introduced by one of the local merchants in town.

The first thing that we noticed driving up to the place were the incredible gardens that greeted our eyes. The garden is a Mendocino attraction in itself. We walked them extensively and took lots of pictures.

We stayed in the Library Room which was cozy with a fireplace and an extremely deep tub and decorated in the 1800's style. The bed was extremely comfortable as well. There were also two diaries in the room of people that had formerly stayed there back to 2000 which I found interesting in the different things that they found to enjoy in the room.

Outside of our room was an area called the Parlor, which had tea and pastries available, along with some cherry liquer, all complimentary. There was also games, books, and a newspaper. We also found a complimentary bottle of wine in our room to enjoy.

The next morning we had breakfast, which we had heard they were famous for that consisted of moist chocolate muffins, fruit balls with ginger and mint sauce and a delicious quiche. We all sat around a common table had had good conversation with the other guests. At one point the table was fully seated and when additional tenants showed up, they were told that they could sit on the tables on the porch, or that they hosts would bring the food directly to their room. Now that's service!!

The owners were very hospitable and we felt very comfortable there.

I spent 1 night here before a business trip to Boonville, getting a slightly cheaper single person rate. I needed a room with a phone as apparently cell phone reception is not good around Mendocino & the owners offered me the Garden Retreat in the Lupe Gordon house a 2 minute walk away. This was lovely. Lots of fresh coffee, free wine, TV & DVD player. There is a supply of DVDs available in a shared sitting room in the property, which is a beautiful old house in the centre of Mendocino.
Breakfast was at the Inn. The food and service were faultless. Breakfast is at one big table, served by the owners, so if you want somewhere large & anonymous this place is not for you - though that probably applies to all of the accommodation in Mendocino! Also breakfast is from 9.00 so if you want to leave early and have breakfast this may not meet your needs. But that wasn't a problem for me.
The owners were helpfulness personified and could not do enough to make my stay enjoyable. I heartily recommend this place. It was wonderful.

“Exceeded expectations!”

Joshua Grindle Inn of Mendocino

Having stayed at this same B and B 9 and 1/2 years ago, we hoped the new owners loved it and allowed it to get even better and while the owners aren't new to the B and B anymore, they were new to us and they had improved on the past! We needed the rest and relaxation and we able to enoy the area and take advantage of the recommendations made to us by lindsey! Thanks for making our anniversary weekend special!
