My wife and I along with our 15 year old son just spent 3 nights at the Portola. All told, we had a great stay. The room was nice and clean and the location is perfect as we were able to walk or bike everywhere. It was a bit noisy but we were there over the weekend and it is in a busy area. The service could be better but I must say the the housekeepers were great. I would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

The minute we arrived at the hotel until leaving was absolutely wonderfull, great friendly people. Will come back very soon.

I was satisfied with the location and the clean, well-maintained room. However, because of the poor guest service, my stay at Portola Plaza was definitely one of my worst yet (and I'm fairly well-traveled). Simply put, I do not recommend this hotel.

My husband and I went to Monterey with another couple for a long weekend. We bought the spa package for the girls and the guys went golfing. The hotel is right at Fisherman's Wharf and just across the street from downtown Monterey - the best location if you don't want to drive anywhere!

The rooms were very nice and a little larger than most hotel rooms. Beds were very comfortable and they had all the typical "nice amenities". The spa was fantastic and food from both room service and jacks lounge was above average. My husband played golf in Carmel Valley and had a great time.

We will definately go back!
