We went on a weekend getaway two weeks ago with my in-laws and stayed at the Twin Dolphin Inn, solely because my mother-in-law picked this motel. In all fairness, rooms were clean and good sized, and within walking distance to Embarcadero. The negative: the advertised amenities like dvd player in all rooms was false, ours didn't have one and the bed covers are rather flimsy and cheap looking, and pillows were rather flat. The A/C is pretty noisy. Our view was of the parking lot, which shows that not all rooms have an ocean view. Another thing is that nobody told us about a continental breakfast and we didn't see any posted sign or note in our room or the reception area offering breakfast, so make sure that you ask about it if you decide to stay here. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again, I believe I could find something better for the same price.

We stayed at the Twin Dolphin Inn, and were very impressed. We were on a budget and were terrified with the options we were given within our price range. My fiance mentioned that his family had stayed there once and didn't remember it being as bad as some of the reviews on this web-site. So we went ahead and booked with them. We were very happy when we got there. The rooms were in very good condition, like new! We had a fabulous view of Morro Rock from our balconey, which was a decent size, perfect for two people to sit in the provided chairs and watch the sunset. We didn't notice a noise issue, except the crazy "rocket powered" toilets! The shower was fantastic (the showerhead was actually at a height where tall people could comfortably shower, something rare in most hotels), and for a budget hotel, there was a great attention to detail. All of the towels and even the toilet paper was folded in to sea shell designs, it was too cute! For two young people on a budget, this exceded our expectations. A comfortable bed and a clean room with free breakfast along with the microwave, coffee pot, and mini-fridge, we were in heaven. I say again this is fabulous for people on a budget, if you are looking for a fancy hotel and you have money to spare, this isn't the place for you. But for the rest of us, it's great!!

I agree that it is average. Compared with my previous stop in Monterey, things like towels, furniture, linens seemed a little flimsy and cheapish. The room was clean and adequately sized, but although they advertise "All Oceanview Rooms" mine was one of the few which offered only a sliver of blue water, and only if I craned my neck. If that is important, verify that you have a true view. It seems like a place where the management is not going to try to get above "acceptable." One poster mentioned breakfast; if it is still offered, nobody told me! However, the location is excellent and it is a pleasant 5 minute walk to the Embarcadero and cafe's and bakeries, so on-site breakfast isn't important. I would be willing to stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice (depending on price, of course).

The loccation is good. walking distance to a lot of restaraunts. the breakfast is good. the room is clean and comfortable with microwave and frige. The price is reasonable ($109 with AAA). The air conditioner is very loud. The front desk is o.k.but when I ask a extra blanket He said their rooms are all booked up so he can not give me one!
