What a great little town to stay in for the night on our journey up the coast to San Francisco. Spotlessly clean motel if a little frayed at the edges, huge room, nice bathroom, great view of the rock (if the tree could be cut down!). Dorn's restaurant right next door with superb fish and chips and famous clam chowder. The walk along the sea front revealed many little restaurants/diners plus our first sight and sound of seals - noisy gits! Thankfully the double glazing worked well and couldn't hear a thing at night although that might be down to the very noisy fan (no air conditioning) in our room
One other thing - there is a very large power station sort of buildng just to the north of the town with 3 huge chimneys - didn't detract at all but can't say I'd like to be looking at them if we visited the nearby beach.
So all in all can highly recommend Morro Bay and the Blue Sail Inn, atmospheric little town, especially with the low cloud and fog - and all those seagulls watching your every move - hints of Hitchcock's 'The Birds'.
