“Nice motel, nice people, nice town - if a little spooky!”

What a great little town to stay in for the night on our journey up the coast to San Francisco. Spotlessly clean motel if a little frayed at the edges, huge room, nice bathroom, great view of the rock (if the tree could be cut down!). Dorn's restaurant right next door with superb fish and chips and famous clam chowder. The walk along the sea front revealed many little restaurants/diners plus our first sight and sound of seals - noisy gits! Thankfully the double glazing worked well and couldn't hear a thing at night although that might be down to the very noisy fan (no air conditioning) in our room

One other thing - there is a very large power station sort of buildng just to the north of the town with 3 huge chimneys - didn't detract at all but can't say I'd like to be looking at them if we visited the nearby beach.

So all in all can highly recommend Morro Bay and the Blue Sail Inn, atmospheric little town, especially with the low cloud and fog - and all those seagulls watching your every move - hints of Hitchcock's 'The Birds'.

We just returned from our California vacation.
Fell in love with the Central Coast and Morro Bay. The Blue Sail Inn is right next door to Dorn's restaurant..which everyone says has great food and it does have a wonderful breakfast.
It is also one street up from the embarcadero, and very close to Morro Rock, and the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History.
We had room 204 with 2 queen size beds, a smoking room but it did not even smell of smoke because they had used an air purifier for us. It had a small fridge inside the "dresser" with shelves on the other side to store snacks. Above it was a microwave and a coffee maker. There was a large armoire that had a t.v and some drawers that contained extra pillows for the bed if you prefer extra pillows. There was also a table and two chairs.
The room had a half bay window with a view of the bay and Morro Rock. The room was large and clean. Including the bathrooms, which had good water pressure. The housekeeping service did a good job cleaning. One thing I did like and I have stayed at some resorts that diddnt even offer this..is the makeup remover wipes! What a nice addition! We never felt crowded. This may be an older inn, but it is clean. Our carpet wasnt dirty, nor the tile, but did notice a few rust stains on the emergency fire sprinkler head (big deal) and eventhough the shower curtain was clean and bright it needed replacing because it looked like it was fraying up by the hooks. I looked around when we got there and saw alot of hotels in the area that had prices that were alot higher and were not as nice.
The only thing I disliked about this place was the beds. The most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept in.

Have stayed at the Blue Sail Inn at least 5 or 6 times over the past few years and always look forward to the clean quiet rooms and friendly staff. Very consistent with making travelers feel comfortable and welcome. Close to everything shopping, restuarants the water and the infamous Morro Rock. Dorn's restaurant across the street is excellent and up to even "Foodie Critics" standards! Stop and Enjoy the relaxing feel of Morro Bay!

If you're considering a trip to Morro Bay, this is the place to stay! They have something for everyone - budget rooms, view rooms, and even mini-suites!

Checking in and out was easy, and the staff were helpful and nice. The room was beautiful! Clean, comfortable, spacious, and had many amenities - including an electric fireplace, wetbar and fridge, private balcony over-looking the Embarcaderro and Morro Bay, spacious bathroom, very comfortable King size bed and more. This Inn in close to everything you need in Morro Bay - most places to shop and dine are within walking distance. We'll be coming back to the Blue Sail Inn whenever we stay in Morro Bay.

I did a lot of online research before I chose the hotel for our 2-night stay in Morro Bay. We didn't know what to expect until we got there. The Blue Sail Inn was perfect for our family of 5. The bay view room was clean and spacious with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. This room also had air conditioning, which is pretty scarce in California hotels in this price range. The Hotel is very secure needing your room card to get up the elevator.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable and the location was perfect, 2 very short blocks down to the bay front shopping, restaurants, kayak rentals and boat tours.
It’s a short drive to the rock (not too bad to walk if you don’t have little ones). The Morro rock draws your attention and is a beautiful one of a kind sight. Walk under the rock and see all the wild life including birds of all sorts and sea lions and sea otters going about everyday life. Walk to the breaker and explore. Kayak rentals are available all along the bay front.

On the other side of the rock is Morro Strand Beach, which is open ocean, uncrowded and goes on for miles.

Food on the Bay is expensive. You may want to go in town for more budget fair. Morro bay is touristy but it has a small town real fishing village feel. Don't spend too much time in your room because there is much to see.

We were so delighted with the Blue Sail Inn That we stayed for a night on our way back down the coast. (This was not a bay view room Definitely get the view room.)

I would consider Morro Bay and the Blue Sail Inn a definite stay when traveling the California Coast.
