We stayed in a room with a view of the pool. The rooms are somewhat small, but nicely appointed with great bedding. There is a small balcony next to the room, and the gas fireplace also acts as the heater for the room. The pool was heated, but there is no hot tub. The bar and restaurant (Orchid) have a great view of Morro Rock and the bay. We ate at the restaurant an enjoyed it. This is our second stay here, and we would definately return.

Where to begin.... The staff was absolutley clueless, the rooms were very dated, . I will never come to this place again!!!

I've read many mixed reviews on this hotel but we were very pleased during our stay. When I travel, I spend very little time actually at the hotel but our room was clean and the staff was very accommodating. Our stay was during the winter so the town closes down early but there is plenty to do in the area.

This has to be in the best location in Morro Bay. Right next to the state park, right on the water. There were cormorants in their nests in trees right next to our building. All sorts of birds and even a seal in the estuary right outside our room. We could see Morro Rock from our door. All that, and the room was attractive and comfortable as well!

The room was a pretty standard hotel room, in good condition. There was a sink in the bathroom and another in the vanity area outside the bathroom, which I guess allows two people to get ready simultaneously in the morning. The room came with a real refrigerator (half-size), and fortunately not a minibar.

There are three buildings. The one we stayed in is next to the water, and the architect somehow managed to give both top and bottom floors on both sides of the building a full water view. I think the rooms on the inland side are actually a bit better than the water side, as they all have private balconies where you can sit and look out at the bay, whereas the water side rooms require you to sit in your room and look out the window to see the water.

The other two buildings surround the pool. If you have kids, and the weather is warm, you might find this to be a good thing. In January, it is just too cold to consider a pool to be an advantage.

Breakfast is not included in the price, but the small restaurant has a delicious (but small) buffet for about $10 a person. Considering the excellent quality of the food, the price seems fair.

Drive out to the Rock and watch otters play in the bay. Drive 30 minutes north to the elephant seal grounds to see an amazing display of seals. Apparently January is the time to see mothers and their pups. In all, a great place to visit.
