Just stayed for the weekend and came in on a Friday evening w/my husband and our 2-yr old son. First off, the ambiance was very mellow and calm upon our arrival; it felt intimate and welcoming right from the start. After settling into our immaculate and spacious room (I believe it was referred to as a King-room with an ocean view, with fireplace, jetted tub,--no balcony), we enjoyed the complimentary wine reception downstairs. They offered my son apple cider (as another reviewer may have mentioned as well). Light snacks and a glass of wine were nice after a long drive! During our 20 minutes spent munching and chatting, we barely saw another couple come by to have a bite to eat. We really felt like we were the only ones there for awhile.
The following morning, the complimentary continental breakfast was very much appreciated and filling--good assortment of items (prepackaged oatmeal, coffee, tea, hot choc, cold cereals, breads, yogurt, milk, belgian waffles (make yourself--nice treat and easy to figure out!), fresh fruit, juices, and even hardboiled eggs) Save yourself a couple of bucks from eating breakfast out and enjoy this food...it was worth it. Also, it runs from 7:30 - 10am, which was plenty of time to make it in time and enjoy ourselves!
All in all, the hotel staff was superbly friendly and helpful with any questions my husband or I had regarding the hotel amenities, surrounding areas, restaurants, etc. The front desk woman--Colleen, I believe--even told us where NOT to go eat our first evening out. The room was spotless upon arrival and moreso, having a toddler, cleanliness was key on our list.
I opted for the Ascot Suites even though price-wise they were a bit more than we wanted to spend. However, as said before, it was well worth it, especially considering the nice little perks this hotel throws in.
Lastly, although not considered a "family/child-friendly" hotel in many people's perspectives, I certainly felt that for the amount of time we spent in the hotel/room itself, that it really didn't matter all in all. After seeing other travelers, we conceded that we were probably the only "family" staying at their location during the course of this weekend. But, it didn't phase us a bit, and on the contrary, my 2-yr old loved taking his evening bath in the jetted tub.
Great job Ascot Suites, and we will definitely be back!
