“Good Hotel, Good Location”

Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa

My husband and I booked our stay at the Marriott for a couple of reasons. We wanted a decent hotel, in a decent location. The results were exactly what we expected. We wanted to spend our vacation money at the wineries, not the hotel. So why spend a lot of money on one of the pricey spas or B & B's? However, we also wanted a clean room with comfortable beds, and Marriott delivered. The location was right off Highway 29, which made getting to and from all the wineries very accessible. My husband and I agreed that we will definitely stay at the Marriott for future vacations.

“Satisfactory but not special”

Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa

23 May 2008

We chose the Marriott as our resting place in Napa because I have elite status in their rewards program. It was a disppointing choice.

The staff was a bit fickle. We called the hotel at 1PM and confirmed that we would have 2 beds as there were 3 in our party. When we checked in at 6 PM the front desk wanted to give us a room with 1 king size bed. It took quite a while to resolve the situation and the staff was less than accomodating.

The hotel itself is very large. The charm and quaintness of being in winecountry are lost there. You have to drive through the parking lot to the corner entrance nearest your room. Bell service was not offered. The rooms are typical for a Marriott/Courtyard.

The hotel is satifactory but not special. I will look for someplace a little smaller and more hospitable next time I'm in Napa.

We stayed here for 3 nights in April. Enjoyed the Napa area and cant wait to go back. The hotel is older and has been remodeled. Marriott calls it a category 6 hotel but it's not. That rating is all about location only. We never ate there other than the concierge and the appetizers at the bar which werent bad. The bartenders were great, the staff was very friendly. Didnt care much for leaf blower at 7am. The courtyard area was really nice except they let smokers smoke there. If you know anything about Marriott's they are non smoking now so I was somewhat unpleasantly surprised about that. Overall we would return and probably will as soon as we can swing it. The gym was nice. Got to love those Marriott beds too.

Staff: Very friendly and helpful with check in and check out.

Property: Well kept. Nice landscaping. Didn't have enough lighting when it became dark. There were separate entrances to the building and you had to use your room key to get in. Didn't get to use the pool, the spa or the fitness room.

Rooms: Nice and clean. Comfy bed. Standard room. A little hard to get to since my room was located on the back of the property. Wi-Fi - was told by a friend that it was a $10/night charge but didn't check into it.

Bathroom: Clean with plenty of towels. They have aromatherapy lotion, shampoo and conditioners. Smelled wonderful.

Hotel restaurant: Harvest Cafe. Went there for breakfast only. Usual breakfast items like bacon, sausage, omelette station, toast, some pastries, eggs benedict, cereal, fruit and yogurt. Nothing special. The host I had was not rude but you can tell she was a little annoyed when I asked to be seated with friends (4 person table with 4 people already on it). Didn't bother me.

Proximity: Pretty close to most wineries and shops. Good location.

Ok, So Marriott definitely purchased this property and remodeled it. It is not in your typical location, nor are the rooms of Marriott quality, I really felt like i was in a Holiday Inn, with the wonderful Marriott Bed and Pillows. The staff was very helpful and attentive. I have no complaints other than the place really scared us. Other reviews state the location was very good. It is right off of 29, but is not at the edge of town, which the town of Napa was not all that impressive anyways. this hotel is close to some vineyards.
