This was my 3rd experience on a private charter out of dAaveys locker. We rounded up 15 of my close high school friends and went out for an "all day boat" A day boat in my eyes is a 24 hr period of good times with friends. Catching fish is just the by product of going out and throwing some choice live squid (extra$$) in hopes of catching a big one. This private charter was over $5000 after the $500 increase 2 weeks before the trip because of the economy and rising gas prices. I work in sales and as far as I was concerned we had already made a deal. So we head out and have a great night chatting with friends and trading fish stories, a good time. I was made aware that we were going to CATALINA?? once we were on the boat>> Not the San Clemente islands like we spoke about. This again was another change in plans, un announced. After catching 8in. sand bass and mackrell for a few hours we decide to try another spot.. the crew was cool. very accomidating and knowledgable. To the extent of us catching 20 mackrell for the boats "shark trip" later that night. We headed back early so the crew could get the boat ready for their shark trip. We got totally jobbed on this trip and I would not recommend this place to anybody. shady practices and lies about where the fish were is all we got. If you want a great sport fishing experience take a few hour drive down south and hit San Diego. The Newport boys are the stereotypical money hungry type. They can have their boat and all their mackrell. This is a true story from someone whos been out on a few boats. Save your money.. all said and done the total cost of this trip was around 6000.
