When we travel. Marriott is our first choice. We go to Newport Beach every year and usually stay at the Balboa Bay Resort or Marriott Hotel and Spa. This year we decided to stay at the Bayview Hotel. It looked great knowing the room is advertised as a suite and such. We had a promotional code for the 'fashion island shopping spree.' When we got to the hotel they said they could only honor the promotion for one out of the 4 nights we were staying there. I had personally confirmed through Marriott that the promotion was good throughout the stay and the confirmation was noted as so. We went ahead (unhappy) and booked the room. When we got to our (upgraded bayview) room we were very disappoited with not only the view but also with how dated the room was. We immediately got our things together and turned the keys in. We then ended up staying at Marriott Hotel and Spa which is right down the street....staff there is exceptional. When they heard we left the Bayview disappointed they sent a bottle of champagne up to our room and left a card that said...I hope your trip gets better! Roger and Alley were the best!

I highly recommend you spend your money else where. Oh yea, and there was a previous post that said this hotel caters to conferences....this explains why there is such a cold feeling within that hotel....it feels very conference like.

I stayed at this hotel way, way back in 1991 for over a year. I still think about it at least once a week. Get room 917, bring a montain bike and enjoy! Kitayama is a great place to eat as well and is around the corner (sorry room service!)

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at this hotel, because of the location to family we were visiting. The hotel was clean and the check in process was quick. The rooms are suites with a sitting area and a small refrigerator, which was nice. We stayed on a higher floor and out view of the pool and expressway was noisy at time. We ate breakfast a the hotel twice, and the fresh fruit plate was excellent. Thre is also a Starbucks coffee at the bar, which was a great bonus for us. Be prepared to pay for parking $15 night.

I loved staying there. The hotel staff was very accomodating. Also, the room was wonderful. It was nice to have a separate area since my husband and I were traveling with my daughter. The living area actually had 2 beds, the pullout sofa bed and a pullout bed from the wall. My daughter loved that because it was more comfortable for her to sleep on. The king size bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. It was very easy for me to fall asleep because the comfort. The only thing that I would recommend to the hotel is to change the sheer curtains on the french doors to thicker ones. I absolutely loved staying at the Bayview Marriot and would stay here again.
