After a long drive along the coast we stopped by to use the bathroom...We had intended to stay north of this hotel until we walked in the door. We were immediately greated by the staff. We had a nice chat while zipping starbucks coffee offered complimentary in their lobby while the kids used the bathroom. They had availability so we decided to stay here. The rooms were very clean. Spacious. My girls loved the bathroom! We were very pleased with all the amenities such as the beach toys for the kids to play in the sand and the proximity to the beach. Breakfast was great! Boiled eggs, cereal and delicious muffins. The staff also helped w/ directions. WE WILL RETURN! Thank you Best Western Staff!

I chose this hotel because of the ratings that it received from Hotels(-), which turned out to be very misleading, and because I needed a hotel that allowed me to bring my 4-pound dog with me .. . While it's not exactly a total dump, it would be generous to call it basic. The highest compliment that can be bestowed upon this hotel is that is seems pretty clean. The rooms are small, and most overlook the parking lot; only a few rooms have balconies, but even those only have a view of the highway in front. The pool area was cramped and uninviting, overlooking the parking lot as well. There are no vending machines and only a single ice machine in the lobby. Parking is free, but you only receive one spot per room which was a problem as we had 2 cars. The free continental breakfast was also substandard. Believe it or not, I could overlook all of this but for the rudeness of the staff. The first problem was that despite the fact that both Hotels.com and the Best Western websites claim this as a "Pets Allowed" property, I discovered that pets are not allowed, and was charged a fee of $200. This is more than the bill for the room itself. Upon check out they tried to charge me a $200 penalty for smoking in the room, which I did not do. When I protested that I have never smoked in my life, let alone in the hotel room, the woman in reception argued with me. Her attitude was absolutely unacceptable. I would recommend staying at one of the many other hotels along PCH in this price range -- you can really do much better.

We stayed at this hotel for one night this past weekend while visiting some friends in Orange County. When we first walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the decor, the friendly staff member who checked us in, and our room placement, which was up on the 4th floor. The room was a good size, with a King size bed, a couch, a desk, a television hutch and a big bathroom. No closet however. Just a portion of the television hutch which opened and had a bar for hanging. However, much to our dismay when we went to go to bed, we pulled down our comforter to reveal a stain on the top sheet of our bedding. Upon further inspection, we realized that the stain was really a dump spot that extended down into the mattress. I called down to the front desk and I mentioned switching rooms, but all that was done for us was our mattress was flipped over and new sheets were put on.

Overall, I would rate this hotel as excellent for the money we paid and considering the location (1 block from the beach). Last minute reservation, two rooms needed for business trip for 3 nights including fri nt: $85/nt!!!

I travel a lot for work and I was very concerned about trying to find a room under our $100 work budget in this prime location. Instead both us had the same opinion: a great find! We both were upgraded to suite rooms with king beds because they ran out of the standard rooms. My room even had 4th flr balcony which over looked the pacific ocean above the million dollar homes across the street, awesome sunset views. Very well maintained rooms, very nice bathroom for the money (good fixtures and marble, perfect maintained), comfortable beds, free hpsd internet, excellent TV reception, nice helpful staff, continental brkfst, good cozy restaurant next door, low crime area, near all attractions in Orange County, 15 min from John Wayne Airport, etc. No problems. I was really surprised.

I would be picky about exact room location in this hotel, if you want the quietest rooms, I would try top floor (4th) and parking lot side, otherwise, you will be right on Pacific Coast Highway which may be loud for you unless you leave the fan running all nite like I do.
