Our rooms were lovely and the staff was always ready to take that "extra step". We especially enjoyed the breakfasts and afternoon treats. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

The group of reviews all slagging the innkeeper's supposed unfriendliness, coming all pretty much together and saying pretty much the same thing have the strong smell of a vendetta, engineered by a single unhappy guest. Sorry, but I call BS.
I have stayed at the PGI for the big classic car weekend the last fifteen years in a row, and I'm not looking for an alternative for next year.
While it's true that the innkeeper has a major effect on how enjoyable one's stay at a B&B can be, and the PGI has had some great ones and some poor ones through the 15 years I've experienced, there's nothing wrong with the current staff. They're accomodating, friendly and competent.
The morning staff started putting breakfast together at 0700 and I was able to have whatever I wanted when I went out at 0730. The hostess even made my waffle for me.
The house (there's the main house and an annex) has a lot of charm and character, the breakfast usually has a couple of fresh-made items (quiche and the like) and there are appetizers in the evening and cookies later on.
It's not cheap. Hotel rates in the area are sky-high during the classic car weekend, and the PGI is actually less costly than a lot of inferior accomodations.
All in all, thiis is a very enjoyable B&B with great Victorian ambience, in a town that's a thowback to an earlier time.

Stayed at the Pacific Grove in during the busiest weekend of the year in Monterey, MotoGP Weekend. The rooms were impeccably clean, had a great, strong shower and best of all: quiet. The staff bent over backwards to make sure i was happy but kept their distance so as not to overcrowd me. I usually hate the stifling B&B scene, it makes me uncomfortable to have to make small talk. But this was the best B&B i could imagine. Highly recommended.

The Pacific Grove Inn is a lovely, charming Victorian B & B just minutes away from Lighthouse Avenue with all its restaurants and shops and the coast. The garden atmosphere with flowers and fountains was great; the rooms were clean and featured warming bars for towels, a working fireplace, and French doors. A welcome array of snacks, tea, and coffee were available in the Victorian parlor. A+

We stayed here 2 nights and wished we had booked more. The facility is clean and charming. The staff gets 10 stars for hospitality. Very friendly but not intrusive. The amenities were really over the top. Breakfast and afternoon "tea" were very enjoyable experiences with good interaction with other guests. We met very interesting people from many places. We've stayed at other B & B's, but this one is #1 in our book.
