This place was perfect for our last minute getaway. I booked it directly over the phone and the woman I spoke to gave me a discount over the phone. We got the room below low season midweek price according to the rates on the flyer we got there so I recommend calling them directly to book since you might be able to get a better rate. The location is excellent. The things we enjoyed most were the friendly staff, the proximity to the beach, the Fishwife restaurant, free bikes you can borrow, and the breakfast that was included. You can make your own waffles! Our room was kind of funky looking inside (it was on the second floor and had a sliding glass door that wouldn't open and there was a lot of space in one part of the room that felt like there was some furniture missing or something) but it was clean and the linens were good quality and clean. The bed was also very comfortable. Probably one of the nicest hotel beds I've ever slept in. There was a little road noise early in the morning, but I thought it was pretty quiet overall. We really enjoyed our stay and will more than likely return.

Free bikes, free breakfast, great location, friendly staff. The room was big, clean and had a fridge. The staff seemed very interested in making us happy and even offered to tell the manager of the 'Fishwife' restaurant next door that we had a lousy meal (many folks rave about this place, I wouldn't eat there again.) Highly recommend room #24 with the balcony and the ocean view. Save money on your room here and eat at Roy's next door at the Inn at Spanish Bay!

We stay at the BeachComber for three days to a week in March, May, July, September and October (daughter's equestrian competitions) and have been doing so for about six years. It is by no means fancy, but the beds are very comfortable, the sheets are good quality, and the towels are fluffy. The continental breakfast (now with waffles!) is self-serve. It is clean, quiet, and comfortable. The property managers live on-site. They're adding wireless internet access this year. It is across the street from Asilomar (the state-owned conference site) and within walking distance of the beach. There is a swimming pool, and they have good-quality bikes for rent. There's a restaurant (the Fishwife) next door, and there are many excellent restaurants at all price points within a 10 minute's drive. It is quite family-friendly. It's easy to get to the Monterey attractions too.

My husband and I stayed here a few nights during our honeymoon. What a great last minute find! The place is very cute, within walking distance to the ocean. The rooms are very quaint (small, but very clean and accomodating). The price for our room was a super value compared to more expensive hotels in the area. It also includes a great breakfast with homemade waffles (yum!) and all sorts of delicious breads and fruit. The owners are very friendly and helpful. For the price, you can't find a better deal in Monterey. The nearby beach is gorgeous!

The room was simple with a large TV. The complimentary breakfast and free VHS movies were nice. One drawback: Roadway noise can be a problem at night. Best feature: Only a few hundred yards from dunes and crashing surf. Great for morning or evening strolls.
