This was our 2nd stay at the Rosedale. We stayed in a standard king room which was more than enough space for a couple. If you have a family the 2 room suites are better. The first time we stayed in a room facing the parking lot which I don't recommend. They're noisier and you get headlights shining into your room at night. This time we stayed in a back facing room which was much quieter. We had windows above the bed which needed to have better curtains to block out the light. The cleanliness was good overall and everything worked (although the fan in the bathroom was very noisy). The fireplace was nice to have but yes, the flame is only about 2 inches high. The jacuzzi in the bathroom was great and I actually liked having the TV in there so I could listen to the news while getting ready. The breakfast was decent: coffee, juice, cereal, croissants, danish, bagels, fruit. I would suggest some improvements, though: upgrade the bed coverings, fix the fireplace if possible, provide a few extra bath towels (you get only 2), change the curtains above the bed, and consider installing some nice granite for the bathroom countertops. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay and would stay again if I can get a good rate. Rita at the front desk was nice and very helpful with rearranging my reservation so I would not have to switch rooms.

Do not stay here!! It is not worth it!! It cost way to much for shoddy bathroom fixtures and fireplace that doesn't even work. Curtains have huge gaps. I wouldn't stay here for 50.00 a night!!!

This small motel almost seems like a bed and breakfast. It's tucked away in a quiet spot in Pacific Grove. We had a king room which was comfortable, clean, and well decorated, and had a small refrigerator, microwave, counter, and sink. The bathroom was somewhat outdated but was large and had a jacuzzi (nice!) and a television (what for?). We got an $89 rate directly from the inn's web site. The hotel manager is friendly and has assembled a eclectic collection of videos ($2 rental fee). They have a "quiet policy" and you have to sign a form saying that you won't be noisy. We would definitely stay here again.

I love Pacific Grove & the location of the Rosedale Inn. We stayed there a few years ago & weren't expecting a luxury suite when we stayed there this time. Our room was nice but definitely not luxurious; we paid $145, which seemed reasonable for that area as it was a "special event" weekend. The wallpaper in the bathroom wasn't in great shape & the TV in our bathroom barely worked. I would much rather have had a heat lamp in the bathroom than a TV! The bathroom sink stopped didn't work & the shower water temperature fluxuated. The fireplace was worthless. To turn it on, you needed to flip the switch on & off many times. After it started, there was very little flame & then it would turn itself off after a few minutes. The room itself was large & clean. As mentioned in a previous review, the kitchenette didn't include a stove but it did include plates, napkins & silverware.

Last year, we stayed in a very nice room at the Anton Inn. We didn't stay there this time because it was further from the ocean - & a little more expensive. Two years ago, we stayed at the Bide-a-Wee Inn; our room was very nice but quite small. We haven't stayed at Asilomar because we like having a TV in our room.

Overall, I think the Rosedale Inn is an ok place to stay if you want a nice room (but not luxurious)in a good location - but they need to fix the fireplaces or should quit advertising that the rooms have fireplaces.
