My wife and I along with two other couples stayed @ The Lover's Point Inn for four nights during July 2007. We really enjoyed the property, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The view of the ocean and Lover's Point Park across the street is just beautiful. We will stay here again upon our return to the area !!!!

Lover's Point is a great value for Monterey. This Inn is older but taken care of. I stayed on the ground floor (cheapest floor) and had to deal with noise from water running above me. I would not recommend the room above the underground parking exit, which is the room I was in. Cars frequently spin their tires while exiting. Staff was very helpful in all my encounters with them.

There is a GREAT restaurant next door (Latitude's) with ample windows to sit and view the ocean. Restaurant has friendly staff and an inviting lounge. Walk across the street to the beach, tide pooling and watching the waves crash on the rocks. The beach tends to be secluded from the wind and is child friendly. Walk 3 blocks up to adorable downtown Pacific Grove. I recommend bringing your bike and biking around to Asilomar or into Cannery Row area and Fisherman's Wharf.

There are only 2 hotels on this point and I have stayed at both. I would recommend both of them to others. However, if you have the money, stay on the upper floors of Lover'sPoint Inn. You definitely can't beat the price for the area.

We pitched up in Monterey on a Saturday afternoon looking for a hotel and ended up outside the Pacific Grove chamber of commerce. This was shut but there were accommodation availability sheets outside in a box as well as a couple of maps, so we headed for the Lovers Point Inn.

As other reviews have said, the building is a bit dated and could do with a bit of work. I'd hate to be in the rooms next to the elevator & vending machines, but our room was upstairs at the far end from reception. The room was OK - bed was comfortable enough, coffee machine worked - and wasn't particularly expensive, especially given that it was a Saturday night on the coast. Heating was a bit strange - the room had an electric heater controlled by a wall thermostat so you can just dial in the temperature you want, but a modern air conditioning unit would be much better.

Location is good - you can walk to Monterey Aquarium along the shore path and see the seals in the fenced-off section, and you can hire bikes from nearby. Very close to the beach.

The hotel is outdated but clean. Our bed was quite hard (and I like firm beds!) and our bottom floor room was kind of noisy with people coming and going. Being very close to the ocean is nice. We got a decent rate but you can do better in the area if you shop around.
