My wife and I stayed there at the end of May. Our trip consisted of a few days in Monterey/Pacific Grove and a few days in San Francisco. Our Monterey/Pacific Grove portion of the trip was definitely the highlight.

The Inn was a delight. It was clean, had nice architectural features in the Craftsman style, lovely and comfortable rooms, a great location within minutes of the beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc. Charlie and Diana are wonderful innkeepers. They both made our first anniversary trip special. They will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Diana went to get our favorite chocolates and champagne and had them in our room for our anniversary. Charlie was a lot of fun to talk to and did a great job making hot breakfasts for us every morning and a cozy fire in the den at night. This might sound a bit strange, but the toast was the best I've had in a long time. I wish we could find that bread in Houston!

The room looked recently remodeled. It was beautiful, spacious and even had views of the ocean, though honestly the water was pretty far off. You can't hear the surf from the Inn. No hotels are built closer to the water than this B&B, though, trust us. Even the bathroom had ocean views! And it was probably the cleanest bathroom I have come across in a long time. And that's a big deal!

I took a look at some of the other rooms (we stayed in the Turnstone) and would like to stay in the Blue Heron sometime. It was larger, with a nice balcony/sunroom. I am posting pictures of the property for everyone to look at.

My only complaints were that the street noise was a bit noticeable at night, especially when you sleep with the windows open. Lots of cars would drive by since it's a fairly major street in Pacific Grove. But it wasn't enough to keep us up.

The other complaint is that the owners haven't put much money into the landscaping. The innkeepers are aware of this and are trying to get the grounds spruced up. It would be great if they really gave the front area some curb appeal. But would that ruin anybody's stay? I can't imagine it would.

If you are searching for a great place to stay in the Monterey area, I would heartily recommend The Inn at 213 Seventeen-Mile Drive. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

“Charlie and Dianna are Innkeepers Extraordinarre”

Stayed at Inn @ 213 Seventeen Mile Drive for 2 nights at the end on May 2007. Property is charming and inviting. Lots of work being done on landscaping coming along nicely. Reception area has wonderful furnishings and homey atmosphere. Booked Avocet, but upgraded to Turnstone (Highly Reccomend) beautiful room. Fresh linens, and spotless, great work by staff. Charlie is a true master in the kitchen. Delicious breakfasts, excellent snacks during afternoon wine, and great conversation to match, Charlie is joy to converse with, very engaging, and informative, and Dianna is as sweet as can be and made us feel right at home. We highly recommend this property, and will tell all of our friends. We are looking forward to returning soon, to the little gem that is Pacific Grove. Thanks Again

We stayed at this Inn for five nights in May 07. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Inn is well run and absolutely spotless, our bed linen and towels were changed daily. This is a tribute to the back room staff who work very hard.

Charles and Diana are perfect hosts, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Charlie's breakfasts were superb, with cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast, and always a hot cooked meal.

Coffee and biscuits were available throughout the day and the wine and hors d ouevres evenings were a great chance to sit with Charles and Diana and chat with them and other guests about the beauty of this unspoilt area.

We thoroughly recommend the Inn and will certainly visit again when over from the UK.

This property was beyond our dreams of comfort and friendliness of the innkeepers, Charlie and Diana, and provided a delicious breakfast and wine & cheese hour. The fireplace was lit for those chilly evenings. We spent three days at Yosemite and had a great time, but needed to get back to the comforts of home and found it at this Inn for the next two nights. I have already recommended this inn to friends who plan to visit the area. It is rare to find a B&B where the guests and the innkeepers are not stuffy, but just down to earth good folks. The Turnstone room was very nice and with a very comfortable bed and a huge bathroom with separate tub and shower that overlooks the bay. Book early if you want a room with a balcony as this one did not, but still is considered one of the nicest rooms. Also, you are just a short walk from the coast where you can access the walking trail. Last, but not least, be sure to go to Lover’s Point and eat, drink and be merry at Latitudes! It is just a short drive from the inn and provides free parking. Enjoy!

We stayed here along w/16 of our friends and booked about 10 of the Inn's Rooms. In between the time we made our reservation to the time of our trip the Inn changed innkeepers---how lucky for us. Dianna and Charlie are wonderful. Dianna happily accompodated our very late arrival by placing our room keys in a hidden strategic location. The breakfasts are wonderful and they were very willing to accomodate a few special requests with a smile. The evening happy hours (which were much longer that a hour) were lavish and sitting in the parlor chatting w/our friends and Dianna and Charlie made for a memorable experience. The rooms were spotless and it truly felt like home. Pacific Grove is a perfect spot to stay for a visit to this area and this is where you need to stay.
