We recently stayed at the Inn at 213 17 Mile for our 1st wedding Anniversary. We checked in on time, with a hearty welcome by Charlie the Innkeeper (Diana was taking a catnap- well deserved since they make themselves available at all hours!).

ROOM
We stayed in The Guillemot, which was very spacious and on the second floor of the backhouse. I wasn`t all that impressed with the interior of the room, the furniture was pretty average, I`d say more on the older worn down side in a nautical type country theme. The bed was very comfortable, but one of the posts in the brass headboard kept falling out and we had to fix it everytime we moved. The towels in the bathroom did not match and were on the small side and a bit worn. The bathroom was also very spacious, with a standup shower and a very nice full length vanity mirror. Both the room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean. The second night we were there, we heard our downstairs neighbors getting frisky. The walls are VERY thin ( or they were just that loud- could be either!) So if you plan on doing the deed- I suggest you keep it quiet, unless you want everyone to hear your business.

GROUNDS
The grounds were ok, they could use some help. There is definate potential for the property to be very nice, there were some weeds and blank dirt areas. There is also a hot tub- which was nice the second night, but once again a little on the older side- with a tile missing in the inside. The spa temperature was perfect, especially paired with the overcast conditions that weekend.

HOSPITALITY
This is the area that I beleive made up for all others. Charlie and Diana really made everyone feel at home and like VIP house guests. They made sure everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed. We attended their wine and appitizer hour from 5:30-7:30 both nights. Charlie made up some wonderful treats including tasty gourmet spreads, with crackers and veggies, as well as bite sized wraps. We enjoyed pleasent conversation. We also enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast each morning.

NEARBY RESTAURANTS
Diana was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and arranging dinner for us the first night The Cellar Door. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and it was only a few blocks from the Inn. One of the best meals I`ve had in a long time. When we were indecisive in choosing a wine, the host went as far as having a taste a couple that he recommended. Our server was polite, attentive and professional.

The second night we ate at Lattitudes. The food was also excellent, with very large portions. The server was a younger surfer type kid, with a few quirks, but he was still attentive and helped make our anniversary a memorable one. We had a spectacular view overlooking the ocean at sunset.

OVERALL
All in all, we had a very good experience, and would definately recommend the Inn at 213 to anyone who is looking for the full B &B experience with excellent hospitality and a homey feeling.

If you`re looking for 4 or 5-star-luxury, I would look elsewhere.

As soon as we became aware of these facts, we upgraded the towels in the room, and repaired the bedpost. We will make a more conscientious effort to personally visit the rooms before guest arrivals and insure that all is as it should be. We have instructed our housekeepers to let us know of anything that is less than what they believe our guests expect. We are all working to upgrade the quality of the rooms, as well as the grounds. We've made significant progress so far, and will continue to work on further improvements.

Thank you so much for your kind words about our hospitality. We are happy you enjoyed that part of your stay, and hope you'll return.

Great Inn, fantastic bedrooms & bathrooms, great breakfasts, Dianna & Charlie the perfect hosts. Dining room could do with a revamp to bring it up to the same standard as the rest of the inn

Our stay at this inn was just great. The innkeepers went out of their way several times to meet our specific needs, including coping with our unplanned late arrival in a genuinely cheerful manner.
Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Our breakfasts were delightful. And the town of Pacific Grove is thoroughly charming.
We heartily recommend that you also stay at the "Inn at 213...", unconditionally!

We were looking for a place that was simple (i.e. not a gaudy, overly decorated B&B) and cozy. We found it here. We arrived late and just in time for wine and appetizers, which are excellent. Not those wimply little cheese squares. Everything is homemade and delicious. It was a very comfortable place to stay and Diane and Charlie were friendly (not overly friendly as can be the case in some places, trust me) and helpful. We had to leave early our last day there and Charlie was kind enough to put out some to-go breakfast items earlier than he normally would so we wouldn't starve. Thanks!

Cheap for the region. Rooms OK. Breakfast plentiful but not great, ie not the gastronomic extravaganza mentioned in other reviews. Cheese and wine soiree a nice idea, but hosts talked at us, rather than too us and dominated exchanges with conversations they wanted to have. Virtually ignore us when we came to check out.
