We recently stayed at the Inn at 213 17 Mile for our 1st wedding Anniversary. We checked in on time, with a hearty welcome by Charlie the Innkeeper (Diana was taking a catnap- well deserved since they make themselves available at all hours!).
ROOM
We stayed in The Guillemot, which was very spacious and on the second floor of the backhouse. I wasn`t all that impressed with the interior of the room, the furniture was pretty average, I`d say more on the older worn down side in a nautical type country theme. The bed was very comfortable, but one of the posts in the brass headboard kept falling out and we had to fix it everytime we moved. The towels in the bathroom did not match and were on the small side and a bit worn. The bathroom was also very spacious, with a standup shower and a very nice full length vanity mirror. Both the room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean. The second night we were there, we heard our downstairs neighbors getting frisky. The walls are VERY thin ( or they were just that loud- could be either!) So if you plan on doing the deed- I suggest you keep it quiet, unless you want everyone to hear your business.
GROUNDS
The grounds were ok, they could use some help. There is definate potential for the property to be very nice, there were some weeds and blank dirt areas. There is also a hot tub- which was nice the second night, but once again a little on the older side- with a tile missing in the inside. The spa temperature was perfect, especially paired with the overcast conditions that weekend.
HOSPITALITY
This is the area that I beleive made up for all others. Charlie and Diana really made everyone feel at home and like VIP house guests. They made sure everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed. We attended their wine and appitizer hour from 5:30-7:30 both nights. Charlie made up some wonderful treats including tasty gourmet spreads, with crackers and veggies, as well as bite sized wraps. We enjoyed pleasent conversation. We also enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast each morning.
NEARBY RESTAURANTS
Diana was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and arranging dinner for us the first night The Cellar Door. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and it was only a few blocks from the Inn. One of the best meals I`ve had in a long time. When we were indecisive in choosing a wine, the host went as far as having a taste a couple that he recommended. Our server was polite, attentive and professional.
The second night we ate at Lattitudes. The food was also excellent, with very large portions. The server was a younger surfer type kid, with a few quirks, but he was still attentive and helped make our anniversary a memorable one. We had a spectacular view overlooking the ocean at sunset.
OVERALL
All in all, we had a very good experience, and would definately recommend the Inn at 213 to anyone who is looking for the full B &B experience with excellent hospitality and a homey feeling.
If you`re looking for 4 or 5-star-luxury, I would look elsewhere.
