My husband and I spent two nights at the Mod Resort and enjoyed it a lot. The location is excellent. The room is small, but the bathroom is very modern and very nice.We liked the flat-screen tv. The grounds and the room are immaculate. Laura is very helpful and gave us excellent suggestions for restaurants in the vicinity. She even arranged for us to enjoy a $19 three course early bird dinner at Pacifico on five minutes notice. Continental breakfast is included in the price of the room, and is quite pleasant. We have already recommended Mod Resort to a friend. I am sure he will like it.

If you like funky, trendy, unique places, The Mod Resort is the place to be. The decor is beautiful and the rooms are very clean. It is located walking distance to all the restaurants and shops of El Paseo Dr. so you don't even have to drive. Laura is very friendly and mingles with the guests to get to know them. We enjoyed laying out by the pool and having our friends over for a glass of wine. The bed is so comfortable, you don't want to get up and the lemon grass shower gel/shampoo/conditioner/lotion is a nice touch. There were just a few things that could be added for higher comfort: DVD player, coffee maker & coffee, and ear plugs. Unfortunately we ended up staying at the same time as a group of very loud women who took over the place. The resort has pretty thin walls so we ended up hearing every sneeze, cough, and every word. We could even tell you their airline reservation number as they were making 5:30 am calls to change their flights. Besides that, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our friends.

This stay blew away my expectations! From the minute you arrive, Laura is ready to take care of you. From the personalized introduction to your room, to setting an outdoor table for us while we went out to pick up a take-out lunch, to picking fresh grapefruit from the tree in the courtyard and squeezing it into a fresh grapefruit martini for us to have with that lunch, Laura made sure that we felt at home and well taken care of (she even went out to her car to retrieve a certificate for a free visit to the local gym for one of my colleagues, since The Mod does not have one on-site). Oh, and the bids/pillows are very comfortable. The Mod is distinctly and completely decorated "mid-century" and sitting there in the courtyard, enjoying the wonderful weather and tranquility, was a joy. Yes, there are some nits. It's true that there is a coffee maker in the room, but no coffee, there's no morning paper delivered, if you get cold at night you're asked to use a space heater (but a very effective one) and the pool was not heated when we got there (so if you plan on swimming, mention this in advance). But these are trivial relative to the overall experience. Highly recommended (and thanks Laura!).

After reading the reviews, we decided to skip our usual fabulous Viceroy in PS and try something new. We found The Mod to be wildly overrated, Laura to be not just friendly but downright intrusive. As far as service goes - there is a great little kitchen complete with coffee maker....but....NO coffee! No room service here folks!! The rooms are nice and very clean but our tv was not one of the flat screens but rather in the closet which took up space for our clothes. GREAT shower - this place was just not as great as we expected.
