The Agua Caliente band of the Cahuilla indians charge to access a scenic area that has extensive hiking trails. The charge is $8 for adults and $4 for children. If you stop at the Palm Springs visitors center when you enter town you can buy tickets for a discount of $1 off each ticket. Tickets are good for any day. We hiked the Palm Canyon trail for about an hour one way. It goes for 15 miles! We saw spectacular views of giant palm trees along a beautiful river with towering rocks forming the canyon. We also hiked the Andreas Canyon which is much shorter (maybe a 1 1/2 mile loop) but not as picturesque as the Palm Canyon trail. Maybe doing the Palm Canyon trail first spoiled the Andreas Canyon for us. Both trails were about easy to moderate. I, my wife and 10 y/o daughter did the hikes without any problems. These trails were definitely worth the price of admission.
