I just stayed at the Ramada Palm Springs and am glad I gave it a chance. I drove in to PS on a Friday without reservations but with information on several hotels with available rooms for the night that were within my budget. Traveling as a solo female I stopped at several different properties to find one that looked safe, clean and comfortable. My first stop took me to the Palm Court Inn, which was within my budget but the only room left was in their furthest building facing the alley and I was also told the air conditioning didn’t work. Feeling less then comfortable with that choice I also checked out the Travelodge but was equally disappointed with their property as well. On a lark I tried the Ramada, across the street from the Palm Court Inn; based on its looks and the name I assumed it would be more expensive but after an hour of looking I needed to make a decision. I was pleasantly surprised to find their rate reasonable, $98 AAA rate for two double beds, and one room left. I happily took the room and the desk staff was pleasant and cordial. The woman working security even escorted me to my room and assured me that I would enjoy staying with them. My room was on the bottom floor facing Palm Canyon Dr., close to the front desk.
The room itself had simple but pleasant décor and smelled surprisingly clean and fresh. There was a desk, armoire and a fridge, and the beds had crisp white linens with cute throw pillows and bed skirts. The bathroom sink and mirror was separated from the toilet and shower/bathtub by a door, which was nice for me because it gave me ample room to spread out my toiletries and get ready. The bathroom was clean and the adjustable massaging showerhead was a nice little bonus.
After reading a few other posts on this hotel I do agree with one area of complaint: the beds. They truly were the hardest beds I have ever felt! There were featherbeds on the mattresses to try to “fluff” them up but they were still hard. As a person who generally likes a cushiony mattress I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sleep well but actually I slept just fine.
The highlight of my stay was the pool and spa. I went for a nighttime swim during dinnertime so had the pool area to myself. The heated pool was lovely for a March night and very clean. The spa was large and clean too, and although one set of jets couldn’t be turned on it didn’t affect me at all. The swaying palm trees and clear starry sky were just heavenly.
The complimentary continental breakfast in the morning was fairly standard but still good. Danish, bagels, toast, cereal and fruit, as well as juice and coffee. I also noticed a few community computers available for use in the lobby but didn’t need to use one.
Overall I am very glad I tried the Palm Springs Ramada and would definitely stay there again. For about $20 more than some of the other budget properties I was happy to feel safe and secure and have a lovely pool, spa and breakfast to enjoy.
