“Great Experience”

After looking at the rave reviews on TripAdvisor, my husband and I decided this hotel would be a good choice for a weekend getaway. The room was comfortable...fridge, 2 sinks, lots of drawer space, and the balcony with the wonderful view. The view was very much worth the stay at this hotel! The bed was very comfortable and was on par with higher-end hotel beds. We were on the 2nd floor--no problems with noise above, below or on either side of us. I wouldn't call the room decor luxurious in any way, but if you bring some of your own "luxuries" you can also make up for that... Bring your own white robes, nicer shampoo/conditioner/soap, your laptop computer to play music, and you have a few little luxuries you might expect at a higher end hotel or bed and breakfast.

Negatives: The shampoo they provide dries out your hair (luckily we had some of our own Aveda shampoo). They provide no iron (we also brought our own iron just in case).

All in all, a great hotel for a weekend getaway!

I'm giving it 4 stars because of the view and location. It's right on the beach and all the rooms have full ocean views. There's a private stairway on the property that leads down to the beach, and you can walk to the pier in about 15 minutes. The room was average at best. Maybe we got one that hasn't been updated in a very long time, but it was okay, not anything more than that. (The bathroom linoleum was green and gold, if that gives you an idea how old it is!) The beds were comfortable and the staff was nice.

This hotel is unbeliieveable, especially for the price. The hotel is up on a cliff right on the ocean. You can hear the waves crashing from your balcony or patio. We stayed on the third floor and it was incredible for just relaxing or watching the beautiful Pismo sunset. If you want to get down to the beach there are steps to get you there. Nice pool, 2 hot tubs, decent continental breakfast, clean room, and great staff. I will be returning to this hotel as soon as I get the chance. What a gem!

In two rooms my parents, my husband, five year old and I spent a really nice two nights at the Kon Tiki.

The first thing we noticed is that although the property is not new it was very clean and well kept both inside and out. Our rooms were on the ground floor and had a king and a double bed in each. There is an unobstructed view of the beach from the sliding glass door.

The continental breakfast was not fancy but is included and there is fruit, bread, pastry, coffee, tea etc and the attended service made sure nothing ran out.

The steps down to the beach are a little arduous (at least for the return trip). The beach is wide and has very fine sand. Great for strolling or running. My son found lots of broken sand dollars which was fun for him.

The health club on the property was very nice and included a pool, sauna and work out facility. A nice perk.

There are plenty of restaurants within an easy drive and lots of wildlife viewing, wineries and general tourist activities.

Overall a great location at a great price. We will go back if we can get a reservation!
