“WOW!!!”

Cottage Inn by the Sea

Wow - we knew that this was going to be a good place to stay but it bettered our expectations!!

This was the luxury part of our trip - our day and a half "chill out" for my wife and i and our two friends - and it did exactly that.

The room was wonderfull, with plenty of space, the back door opened up to a patio area with table etc and a 20 pace walk to the cliff edge.

A perfect setting with glorious views & a wonderful surrounding.

The staff were very polite and helpfull whenever approached. Pismo itself is also a lovely place - I especilly reccomend Giuseppe's Pizza place either for take out or to sit in.

Notmuch else i can say other than if you want a relaxing environment with the option to hit the beach as well as enjoy a glass of wine on an evening - this is the place to go in Pismo!

“Excellent Cottage like Hotel!”

Cottage Inn by the Sea

We just recently stayed at this Hotel and couldn't have been more pleased with it! We loved it so much that we didn't want to leave to go shopping in Pismo. Our room was so cottage looking-with cute shutters. Loved every bit of it. The weather was warm, so we didn't use the gas fireplace, it'd be nice to come again in the winter and use it. Our room had an ocean view and what a view! If you're planning on staying here, I would highly recommend paying the extra and getting a room facing the ocean. Ours was on the bottom floor, and we had a cute little door that we always kept open. They have chairs so you can just walk right out, sit and look at the ocean. We sat out late, then got up early, made coffee and sat out again enjoying the view. The landscaping is very cute with a little walkway leading down to the ocean. The steps are kind of step, so you need to be careful with little ones. They allow pets in some rooms, so there were cute little dogs being walked on leashes all around. They were adorable to watch! The breakfast they supply was absolutely perfect-who can complain about a free breakfast! We took our food back to our room and ate. I definitly rate The Cottage Inn with 5 stars for being so cute and quaint. We came home and made reservation to return this summer!

“Our First of Many Stays at this Ocean Gem”

This was our first visit & stay in Pismo Beach, what a remarkable and memorable stay we had during our month long holiday to California - staying at the Cottage Inn By the Sea was the highlight of our trip.
We had a full ocean view room located on the second floor. Our room was huge with bay windows that opened, high vaulted ceiling with ceiling fan, gas fireplace with 2 queen sized beds ( they were huge for queen size ) with plenty of pillows for a good night's rest. The ocean view was incredible and we especially loved the idea of opening our windows to hear the roar of the ocean as we fell asleep and when we woke in the morning. It was the best night's sleep we had during our holiday. Our guest room amenities included comp. bottled waters and spa robes.
Our room was huge which would explain the reason for the small bathroom but it didn't matter as it met our family of four's needs perfectly. The decor of the room was tastefully done but the beauty of this property was found outside of our room.
The comp. breakfast which was offered included: bagels, toast, waffles, fruit, pastries, juice & coffee, etc. Breakfast was only served for a few hours in the morning. The front office staff was accommodating to our needs. The pool area over looks the ocean which made for a relaxing evening while soaking in the hot tub. It was quite relaxing to sit on the landscape grounds which overlooked the ocean or to walk along the paths which lead to the ocean.
This was a very memorable stop and our only regret is that we weren't able to spend more time at this location. We plan on spending more time at this location next time we visit Pismo Beach. We definitely recommend this property to any one visiting or planning a stay in Pismo Beach.

“Lovely Hotel - Will Definitely Be Back”

Cottage Inn by the Sea

14 Apr 2008

I stayed at the Cottage Inn while in the area on business and the hotel was great - I am planning a trip back to the area with my husband and will stay at this hotel again.

I had an ocean view room, which was on the second floor with a balcony looking toward the pool and out over the ocean. For better views, there are rooms which sit on a bluff overlooking the ocean with a nice garden area in front.

The weather was absolutely lousy during my stay, but the room was quite cozy - the gas fireplace was a definite plus. The linens were good quality and the bed very comfortable. Some of the decor could stand to be updated - floral and chintz curtains. The internet access was good - no problems connecting or anything like that.

The only reason I gave this hotel an "Above Average" rating instead of "Excellent" was the breakfast. It was the off season and there weren't too many guests, which could explain the lack of variety, but the pastries did not seem fresh and the coffee was passable at best. 2 out of 3 mornings I skipped the hotel breakfast and went down the street to the Steaming Bean for some really good coffee and pastry.

“Lovely Place with some issues”

Cottage Inn by the Sea

My wife and I stayed at the Cottage Inn for our 34th wedding anniversary. We were pleased at the size and quality of the room, with large windows that face the ocean, and a semi-private patio off the room with great views of the ocean. Unfortunately our room was adjacent to the ice machine which serenaded us with the loud compressor noise all night. Fortunately the sound of the ocean waves helped us tune out the cacophony of the ice machine.
The continental breakfast was really fabulous. Everything from cold cereal to self-cooked waffles is available. Fresh squeezed orange juice, apple juice, great hot coffee, bagels, toast of all kinds, croissants, and much more is available. And the hours of service are long enough to allow one to sleep in and still have some of everything.
I was a little disappointed with two things: the mattress was really soft, almost spongy, and it really made my back hurt. When I reported this to the staff they were understanding, and aware of the complaints. They reported that new mattresses are coming soon.
The other issue was the cleanliness of the glassware in the room. After seeing the news reports of mishandling of hotel/motel glassware I marked the glasses my wife and I used. After the staff had cleaned the room, the same glasses were back on the table complete with the little paper cap. They obviously were not sanitized in any acceptable way or the mark would have been removed. I used the wrapped plastic cups after that. I trust this will be rectified soon.
My wife reported a couple of other issues. There was mold around the bathroom window and under the soap dish. There was chewing gum stuck on the headboard which we had to remove. The headboard and other areas of the room could use a little more attention to clean the dust. The carpet could use a better cleaning, especially under the bed. An item of ours rolled under the bed and when we reached under to retrieve it we noticed how dirty it was
On the whole our stay was fine. We will stay there again the next time we need a nice hotel.

Thank you so much for your comments in regards to your recent stay. I just wanted to clarify what our procedures are for cleaning our guestroom glassware. We have a commercial dishwasher that is used to sanitize all of our glasses with a 3 part system from a respectable distributer and all glasses are removed from the room and brought to the kitchen to be cleaned since, the video's have surfaced we had a company wide meeting with the houskeeping staff where we showed the video and discussed the importance of sanitizing all items in the room. I have shared your comments with my staff and I can assure you had you brought this to our attention we would have gladly replaced the glasses for you immediately.
