This is one place you can't miss if you are near Point Arena, California. My husband and I stayed two nights and wished we had stayed longer. The rooms are decorated with antique reproduction furniture. A wood burning fireplace was a bonus on chilly nights, along with the two person jaccuzzi tub. The silver wine bucket, wine glasses and candles added to the overall romance. We stayed in one of the rooms facing the courtyard but still could see the ocean and hear the waves. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. It is definitely worth a trip to Point Arena.

Located directly on the ocean, you must travel a mile down a little road directly east to find this jewel nestled near the breath-taking ocean. You must drive behind the restaurant to see the tiny hill and continue to drive up. When you arrive, you are greeted by one of a few sweet, fat, and friendly cats that reside there. Carefully make your way up the steps to the registration office. You will instantly feel that this is no ordinary hotel. It is quiet, unassuming, and caters to the very romantic. In your room you will be provided with logs for your fireplace, candles and matches, bubbles for the jacuzzi, and a soft, plump featherbed. The balcony provides for the most wonderful view. No need to leave your room; except to eat at the restaurant down the hill. Friendly staff, clean, quiet, and a perfect getaway. I didn't want to leave. Just 30 minutes south of Mendocino.

The view from the room was incredible - but unfortunately the room was not impressive. The linens were not as clean as I had hoped - I noticed makeup stains and stray hairs.

The room smelled musty.

Overall - the place needs an upgrade.

It's affordable - but you could do way better up the coast.

My wife and I wanted to get away for our anniversary so we poured over websites seeking good and affordable accommodations that had ocean views, in-room hot tubs and fireplaces. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to stay at The Wharf Master's Inn. We were so happy we did. The bed, fireplace, hot tub and ocean view were amazing. The room could use a refrigerator, but for the money it can't be beat. The cove where the Inn sits is secluded and beautiful. We had an excellent pizza one night at Pizzas 'N Cream in the Point Arena Cove and got coffee twice at Cove Coffee and Tackle. We would most definitely stay again and plan to visit again soon.

We had been through a very long "high season' at work, and had been looking forward to getting away, but not too far. We live in Cloverdale, and we were waiting for harvest to be over, so we could go to the coast and check out The Wharf Masters Inn, we had heard it was very peaceful, and all of our dreams of a restful, quiet, and very special place, were fullfilled here. We stayed in a room with a perfect ocean view, so perfect that if we would have chosen a room ourselves, this would have been it. We loved the sound of the waves all night long (we left our window open for fresh air during the night) We walked down the hill to the pier and watched a fantastic sunset, and afterwards a really great dinner at the restaurant by the pier, I don't remember the name, but it was a really good dinner, good prices and service. Anyway, our stay at The Wharf Master's was wonderful!

Notice the grounds, all of the wood carvings, and the office gals were so helpful and polite. The continental breakfast was fresh, and lots of choices, with a TV so we could watch the news of the day.
Don't miss staying here, we will be back the next time we need to get away!
