“Nice Room but Pool overcrowded with Kids”

Check in at the Westin Mission Hills Hotel was friendly and fast and the lobby looked nice. The grounds with little lakes and water features and golf course views are very nice. We had requested early check in and golf course view room and got what we had asked for. No complaints there. The room was a nice size and we liked the dark wooden furniture and stylish bathroom sink area. The shower/tub was basic and a nice large separate shower would have been nicer. But there was a decent double shower head. The king bed was very comfortable with cozy pillows and everything was very clean. We had a big window and sliding door to a small patio area with chairs and table and had very nice views of the golf course and mountains.
There were no bathrobes in the room so I called service to get them and within 5 minutes they were delivered. In regards to the room and grounds we were happy with the resort. The Adults pool area was basic and no lounge chairs available so we went to the larger resort pool with rock waterfall, jacuzzi and waterslide but it was so overcrowded with kids and the water was very murky due to that. Since we got there in the afternoon we did get lounge chairs in the sun but they had no clean towels available. After about 15 minutes the towel attendant guy brought them to us. We are 2 adults that wanted to enjoy a nice pool and this resort pool is really only nice for a family. We had to cover our cocktails because of all the splashing around us. We felt out of place because there were only families and no child free adults like at other resorts where there is more of a mixture and we did not like being at that pool. After a while in the late afternoon we went back over to the Adults pool and now there was space. The pool was clean and there was a nice hot jacuzzi. The pool there is nothing special but it was pleasant. And nice adults around without children. We did not eat at any of the Westin restaurants as there where just to many kids all over the Resort for our taste. We had a wonderful dinner at Mikado and fun at Costas night club at the JW Marriott. We would probably not stay at the Westin Mission Hills again because it seems to be mainly a place frequented by Families with lots of kids and we prefer a hotel that has at least a mixture of people but I am sure Families have a great time there.

I just got back from the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa and I am now "inspired" to write my first review. Let me first say that I have 3 small children, ages 6,3, and 20 months, and I am not that picky when it comes to vacations. As long as my kids are happy, I am happy. Not this time. The positives of this resort...the grounds are lovely, the hotel room was nice and clean. The food was good. Okay, now the problems. The pool was overcrowded to say the least. I have never seen so many children in all my life. Usually when I read reviews that say there was a lot of kids in the pool, I say, "great", because i have kids. This was WAY too many! The pool could not accomodate this many children. There was no baby pool so we sat on the steps and tried to dodge balls and cannonballs. There was a volleyball net set up in the middle of the small pool that should not have been there. Dodging volleyballs was part of the fun, too. There is a small waterslide which my son loved, but it was short and the line was long. I will say that we did stay for a couple days after Easter, so this did contribute to the crowd factor, but the pool was jammed packed. We got there at 8:00 am and there was not one chair. We put our stuff on the grass. That evening when we went to eat, I have no idea where all these children went, because there was no family friendly restaurant. Only the Bella Vista, that was serving trout and the outdoor lounge restaurant. We ate at the outdoor restaurant (there WAS a children's menu) and spent a "delightful" 2 1/2 hours there! Not that fun for 3 little boys. The service was neglectful and painfully slow. The waiter seemed to have NO idea! ..Also, there was no directory/hotel information inside the room. It would have been helpful to know a little bit about the hotel. I asked the concierge for a list of activities. They pointed me towards a poster by the front desk of a list of activities for the past weekend (it was Monday). When I pointed out that it was not current they told me they didn't have a newsletter, but handed me a couple flyers for "Hollywood Tours" and T.V. show tapings I could sign up for...in Los Angeles! What??!! More...we requested a crib when we arrived at 2:00. We called again at 5:00, and at 7:00. When my husband called at 7:30 and told them it was the 4th time he called, the person on the phone backtalked him and told him he only had record of 1 call. We finally got the crib after my husband asked for a supervisor. Okay..2 last things...our room was right next to some sort of cleaning room and we had to listen to walkie talkies and conversations until 11:30 pm, as well as the guy coughing next door. And, finally, we left my little boy's stuffed lion in the room. I called when I got home, immediately, and was told by security/lost in found that they would call me back that night or the next day. So, when I called again 2 days later they told me, "Yeah, nothings been turned in". I'm sure they didn't look. I put that animal to bed with my son, and it never left the room. Now its vanished! The long and short of the trip...the customer service at this hotel was far below acceptable. Choose somewhere else.

1)How many times do you need to ask for service to receive it?
2) How many times do you have to be approached about the time share even after you have told them of the poor service and your complete lack of interest?
3) What are you placed in a less desirable room when you were guaranteed (with the name of the person at the hotel you spoke with) that you would not be?
4) Why do you have to wait for security only to be charged an extraordinary rate to use the intranet?
5) Why couldn't we recieve the extra towles we requetsed several times?
6) Why didn't we stay somewhere else?

“beautiful grounds but lacking in service”

We stayed at the Westin Mission Hills on Mar23-25th. The grounds on the resort are very nice. The golf course is beautiful and the rooms are decorated in dark wood tones which makes it appear very homey. In
addition, the standard room we had was very large with a sitting area, the bed was indeed "heavenly", and the shower heads are amazing. Overall I thought this was a great stay..however my only complaint was the service. The pool did not have waiters come by to take orders/bring drinks and the restuarants there were really slow with the service. They did not really appear to care that you were sitting there waiting and kind of took their time coming to you and were not very friendly. The maids came when we asked them to clean the rooms, but they did leave food hanging outside for most of the day..BUT besides that..I thought that this place was definitely worth
going to and worth the price if you decide to eat elsewhere. BTY...
the massages their are amazing!!!

“Cockroaches!!!!”

Westin Mission Hills Resort

We stayed at a suite at this property March 24-26. While the grounds are beautiful and the pools are great (waterslides for the kids), the first full day there we discovered four cockroaches in our room. We phoned front desk and asked them to spray the room. The next day we were horrified to discover SEVEN more cockroaches, including one in our bar sink. To make matters worse, when we got our account, the Westin had charged us over $65 in "long distance" charges for about 30 minutes of calling to a local number in the same area code. When I confronted the front desk about this, they pointed out that the key package explained that any calls to a number located outside a 6 mile radius would be charged as a long distance call, even though the calls I made were not, in fact, long distance. At my protest, they reduced the "long distance" charges by 1/2, still an outrageous charge. As for the cockroaches, to compensate me they eliminated the $20/night "resort fee", which I was not expecting anyway. If you want to see this property, then I recommend you drive in, look around, then leave and find a better place to stay.
