I have joined the Priority Club through Holiday Inn. I was able to gathered points for additional stays or free nights at other Holiday Inns or Holiday Inn Express. I looked up the hotel on line and it is exactly as it is described.

My friend and I drove up to Redwood City from Southern California. It was a six hour drive and we were ready to check in. I had purchased a 14 day advanced offer, and it was reasonably priced. Check in was a breeze. They requested a credit card for a $25 fee for incidentals. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We requested two queen beds and we were given a room down stairs on the corner. It was perfect. We usually left early and came back late and had the same parking space. It was a busy hotel, with lots of guest.

The only down fall-I wasn't able to access the wi-fi in the room and they offered free wi-fi. They also offered free breakfast, but my friend and I never took advantage. There was a Target up the street, so, when we came into town and had dinner, we stopped at Target and bought snacks for the room. They had a mini-fridgerator for our use. The bathroom was spacious, for the most part, and it had a bath tub. Very very important to me. It was even quiet for being on the bottom floor, on the corner, next to the street.

I would stay with them again.

We stayed a week at the Holiday Inn Express in Redwood City/Menlo Park and had a very good time. The hotel is older but completely refurbished. The rooms were clean and well furnished as nicely as any HI Express I've ever stayed at before. Staff were very helpful and friendly and always cleaning the outside and common areas. The area is eclectic. Down the Camino Real is Atherton and there are some very nice neighborhoods with redwoods everywhere. There is a Ferrari dealership down the street the other way and a washateria across the street from there. We felt very safe and convenient location to Stanford and some very nice restaurants. The 101 and 285 freeways are not far. The staff at this property were outstanding. The parking spaces were very small and there is no pool. The spa/exercise room were clean and adequate.

This is a motel, in the original sense of the word, where there are no inside corridors and you can park right outside your door. When it was built, it was probably considered convenient for motorists that the hotel is just a handful of feet from El Camino Real.

Unfortunately, El Camino Real is now a major six lane road that carries a large volume of traffic more than eighteen hours a day. As a result, you will hear a lot of road noise in your room. If you're a light sleeper, this is not the motel for you.

Other than the road noise, this is generally a good place to stay, though the prices they charge would be way out of line if it wasn't located in the Bay Area.

The rooms are nicely appointed with new furniture. There is a fridge; microwave; coffee maker; hair dryer; lighted, magnifying make-up mirror; iron, and ironing board; and safe in the room. The linens are all reasonably new. There are both "firm" and "soft" pillows, though the difference between the two is slight.

The fans in the bathrooms turn on when the lights go on, and you can hear the bathroom fans of the rooms around you when the traffic is stopped by a nearby traffic light.

There are plenty of cobwebs where the ceiling meets the walls, something revealed by even a cursory glance. The tub also doesn't drain well, so you're standing in soapy water after even a quick shower.

The folks working the front desk have been helpful and pleasant. The morning breakfast is reasonably good.

There are plenty of restaurants and stores a short drive away on El Camino Real, and a handful of services within a short walk.

In short, I'd be willing to stay at other Holiday Inn Express locations in the future, if I knew that they were further from the road than this one. If it wasn't for the road noise, they'd get three stars. If they got rid of the cobwebs and fixed the drain, I'd bump them up another star.

Yes, the neighborhood looks scary but I had no problems. There are double secure locks on the doors and a security at night to watch the cars. The staff was very friendly.
The room was suprisingly great. I'd never stayed at a HIE before and I was pleasantly suprised. Comfortable bed, nice amenities, had a mini fridge and microwave. They even left a gift bag with popcorn in the room. Nice shower, nice towels.
No complaints at all. I will definitely stay there again.
