I stayed at the Homestead during a house remodel, and I chose the Homestead because it had reasonable monthly rates, rooms with kitchenettes, wi-fi, and it was convenient to my home.

I booked the room on the hotel web site. I requested a room near an elevator and I got one. I extended my stay a couple of times and that was easy, I just phoned the front desk a few days before and told them the new date of departure.

There is plenty of free parking.

I had a regular one room suite with a king bed. The bed was not too bad, the air conditioning worked well (there were a couple of heat waves during my stay), the shower was a reasonable size. The wi-fi (available for a one-time fee of $5) mostly worked OK for my purposes but was too slow to watch YouTube videos on, for example. It annoyed me that I had to enter a wi-fi passcode every time I logged on.

The kitchen appliances worked. There were adequate kitchenwares for the most part, but they were stingy with dish soap (they didn't refill it when they cleaned the room; I had to ask at the front desk and I got only a tiny packet) and there was no scrub brush for the dishes.

I guess the room was pretty quiet. I think I might have heard bathroom noises from other rooms but I don't remember hearing conversation. I frequently encountered cooking odors in the hallways but they usually didn't come into my room.

Rooms are cleaned once a week unless you pay a small extra fee for a "daily refresh," which I didn't. The cleaning staff do not do the dishes when they clean your room; this was adequately disclosed when I checked in.

One week they did not clean my room; that was the same week I didn't tell them my room was ready to be cleaned as I was leaving the hotel for the day. The other times they cleaned, they did a good job. If I left the Do Not Disturb sign out the cleaning staff didn't bother me.

The front desk is not always staffed. When no one is there, a note at the front desk directs you to a house phone to call them, but sometimes it takes a while for them to arrive. All the staff were friendly to me.

The hotel lost a few dollars of my money because their soda machine was out of order most of the time I was there.

The hotel is in a business park in an industrial area of the city, and the views from the rooms are of parking lots. There are many restaurants within a short driving distance or within walking distance (it's not a very pretty walk) but none immediately on site. The room contained various restaurant delivery options.

The hotel accommodates pets with an extra daily fee of $25 (capped at $150 per stay); I didn't bring pets myself but I saw residents with dogs of all sizes.

This hotel met my expectations and I would stay here again if I needed to for a similar purpose. It's not a vacation hotel.

We stayed at this hotel twice. The first time we had a nice comfortable room. The second time we ended up with a small cramped room. The A/C was right on the side of the bed - blowing directly on it.

I am selling my house so needed a place to stay that accepted pets. Homestead Suites has been terrific for myself and 3 cats. It is quiet and friendly with all the necessities. The value has been great since I'm paying both a mortgage and the hotel.

Couldn't sleep

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed that I (never) slept in. You could feel the springs digging into your back. I tried calling the front desk to ask for a new room, but the front desk closed at 10:00 p.m. and there was no one to ask. (I'd gotten in late, just before they closed). My back was killing me, and I ended up lying down on the floor, which was marginally less uncomfortable than the bed, but I still got no sleep. The next morning, I described the problem to the front desk and asked for another room. (I had a 3-night reservation.) They said that all the beds were that way. I'd paid in advance (via hotwire.com) but checked out anyway. I couldn't bear the thought of another two nights like that. Hotwire refunded my money for the remaining two nights and I moved to the much more comfortable Homewood Suites for the remaining two nights.

  • Liked — They couldn't pay me to stay there again.
  • Disliked — Bed was uncomfortable and it was very noisy (right next to the freeway)

I stayed there two weeks and it wasn't all that bad. I'm not particularly demanding, so in the end I stayed the whole time. They gave me two small packs of dishsoap and there was nothing to scrub the dishes with (they don't supply sponges or anything). Surprising, since there is a fully equipped kitchenette. They supply free coffee in the common room, but to make coffee yourself in the room you need to buy your own. One day there was a terrible smell in the corridors of the hotel, don't know what happened, but that disappeared in the afternoon.

The surroundings are what they are, but at least you can walk to places to eat in an emergency (Pizza Hut and a couple of other in the mall court nearby).

I won't repeat, next time I'll look for something else in the area.
