First, while trying to book a room we had a hard time getting through to anyone who would take a reservation. We were repeatedly put on hold then transferred to voice mail and then the phone would disconnect. We persisted because we were looking forward to a wonderful visit.
When we arrived at 3:00 p.m. for our stay, we were told by a very unhelpful, unsmiling, rude person, who kept me waiting for quite awhile while she talked on the phone without looking up or acknowledging me in any way, that check-in wasn't until 4:00 p.m. and our room was not available. This was on a weekday and the place was practically empty. When I came back at 5 minutes until 4:00 p.m., I was told that the room still was not ready. There was a different person at the desk this time who then called housekeeping "to check". Housekeeping did not answer so he kept trying. It turned out that the room had been ready all along but no one had bothered to enter that information into their computer. Just one example of unhelpful staff with offensive attitude. Then I had to initial and read (at least 3) various papers stating that I understood check-out time was 11:00 a.m. etc. Why claim to run an "upscale," relaxing spa hotel and charge exorbitant prices if you are not at least going to be accommodating and make people feel welcome? Then there was no one who even offered to carry our bags up the many steps to the room. I could go on, but suffice it to say that we will never stay there again and would not recommend it.

My husband and I have been to many destination resorts. This place did not quite do it for us. We stayed in the "Meadows" in "Divine". It was not divine. My husband said the furniture looked like it came from a garage sale. The bathroom looked newly remodeled however. On the positive, the rooms are large and the T.V.s are new. We were told when making our reservation that these are the nicest rooms. Yikes! The photos posted here are accurate.

On the positive the restaurant was good, the bar was fun, and the spa is nice enough. I had a great massage by Larry!

We will not stay there again unless they remodel. The place has great potential however.

Every room and/or cottage has their own deck with hot tub. The West Meadows cottages (we stayed in Wishful) is like a small house on stilts in the woods. Fireplace, big living room, and big bedroom. Restaurant is great! We got room service. There is a mineral spring main pool, redwood hot tubs you can book up the mountain, yoga classes, different length walking trails in the woods, spa. Loved it. Cottages very secluded, romantic!! Close to San Luis Obispo CA and the wineries.

The true joy of staying at Sycamore Mineral Springs extends beyond the room. Our home is in the forests of Oregon with a lovely spring, landscaped with huge ferns and 300 year old trees. We feel like we are on permanent vacation, so when we do leave our choice for lodging has to be aesthetic.
We choose Sycamore because of the gorgeous grounds, the pathways for walking, the labryinth for meditating, and of course the hot tubs for relaxing. Not many hotels offer a hot tub with jetted mineral water on your own private patio. We stayed in the Harmony building, and yes the rooms could use some refurbishing, but that is noted in the web site description, so we were not disappointed.
And the bonus for us was the Healing Arts Center. How wonderful to walk just a few feet from our room to partake in Yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi classes, complimentary to the guests.
So after enjoying the classes with kind and gentle teachers, relaxing in the hot tubs, walking and meditating, do you think a little highway traffic noise bothered us? Not at all.
We left the property after a delightful weekend of focusing on what is good in life.
