I found this inn here at TripAdvisor and I booked directly with the property. I used to live in Santa Barbara, so I was familiar with the location, and since I was arriving by train and wouldn't have a car, the closeness to the train station was a big plus. It is only a 10 minute walk, close enough to be very handy, but not so close that the trains bothered me at night.
Most of the reviews here are for the higher end rooms, so hopefully my "lower end" room review will be helpful. I had a queen room on the ground floor. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable, the tv was a good size with lots of channels to choose from plus a DVD player, there was a small fridge (and freezer) plus a microwave and coffee maker. The ceiling fan was a big plus as it was fairly warm and the room was a little stuffy. Although the room wasn't very big, it was just fine for a single. Since there is so much to do in Santa Barbara you won't want to spend a lot of time in your room anyway.
As others have commented here, the breakfast is good and there is plenty to eat. Both mornings the food was replenished regularly - there was fresh fruit, bagels/pastries, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee and tea. The breakfast room also has a computer to use if you like.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the fresh baked cookies at night were a nice touch. For those traveling by car there is a lot which is important since there are parking restrictions on the streets around the property on the weekend. That's because it is a residential neighborhood (nice and quiet) but close to the beach (very handy).
If you're looking for a property that has a pool or spa, this isn't the one to book. But if you're looking for a very nice property, well situated and a good value for the area, this is a find. I would definitely stay here again.
