My wife and I stayed here for a quick two night getaway. We didn't want to spend too much money. We found this a pleasant place to stay. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice but it seemed like they couldn't keep the coffee pot full which isn't good for a caffene addict such as myself. Convienent to downtown/waterfront, airport, & wine country.

On check-in we had a few problems with our booking, as they seemed to have different dates than the ones given, however the reception staff were helpful and this was resolved after a short while. We were sent to a room at the back of the property, which wasn’t bad, a little basic, but clean, tidy and spacious. Unfortunately the air conditioning was old and noisy and was only in one of the rooms so it got quite stuffy and we then found that the windows did not open properly.

This motel is quite a way out of town although there is a good bus service; we found it a little unnerving walking back late at night, as some of the areas are quiet with a few dodgy characters along the way.

There is free internet access in the lobby, which we found useful, but go early as there is only one laptop available and a time limit if other people are waiting.

The Sandman is great - only stayed one ngiht, but the staff were very friendly, the room was fantastic - very clean, modern and extremely comfortable - the pools are lovely, the view of the mountains is amazing, the breakfast was great. Very close to downtown Santa BArbara. I highly recommend it - very comfortable place if exploring nearby areas.
