Pros: possible to stay only 1 night on a weekend and for less than $200/night in Santa Barbara, which is hard to find. Clean room and bathroom; comfortable bed.
FYI on the night of Fri to Sat, a train chugged by and tooted twice (once late in the evening, once early in the morning); the freeway white noise was constant but not loud.
Con: no in-room coffee; free coffee in the office, but it didn't open until 8 a.m. on Sat, and we were up at 6:30 a.m., so we walked to the gas station a few blocks away.

This hotel is in a quiet East Beach neighborhood of apartments and a few hotels within walking distance to the zoo, park, 25 cent beach shuttle and of course, the beach. There is the East Beach Grill and a bicycle rental place nearby. I loved the organic market around the corner with fresh OJ and muffins. As for the hotel itself, it has some oceanview rooms and plenty of parking. The pool is heated and oceanview. Some rooms are huge and others are smaller. Our room only had a shower, no tub, but we did have two closets!! One a walk-in!! An infusion of money would make it a gem. Think of it as visiting family and ignore the flaws [and the staff is so nice it wouldn't be hard to do]. The good outweighs the bad. I would recommend this place.

My mother,myself and my son stayed for along weekend.We enjoyed our stay.The room was clean and my eight year old enjoyed the pool.The staff was friendly. I cannot believe that the rates have more than tripled for this year.FOR $549 we can stay at the Hilton!!!!
