“Pretty Good, Not Amazing”

Stayed there last weekend. I have nothing bad to say about the place, but I have nothing particularly great either. Everything was adequate. The rooms were clean, but small. The breakfast was nice, but nothing to write home about. There was wine and cheese at night, but only cheap white wine in a carafe and the cheese was of the pepper jack/cheddar cheese-ish supermarket variety. The staff was present and friendly enough...don't think the proprietors were ever around. The location was right off State Street, but not the best part of State Street near the beach...the Inn is near the "professional part" of State Street. In sum, a perfectly good B&B, but nothing so special that I'll be heading back next time I'm in town.

So much nicer to stay here than any hotel in the area. They really take care of you. Wine, cheese, goodies and a really great breakfast. Easy walk to the Granada Theater.

“Cute, charming, but a little dated”

We stayed here just before the new year's eve weekend and had a great experience. We were put in the Wysteria room, which was located in a separate building in the back of the main house. It was small, however, but very cute and charming. There was a great whirlpool tub that we took advantage of as well as the fireplace. Things throughout the house are a little dated and mostly older couples stayed here, but the staff was extra helpful, took pains to know our names and our needs, likes, and dislikes. I'm not sure how many rooms are in the house, but I never heard anyone else, so it would surprise me at times to walk out and see so many people. I would gladly stay here again, however, as it was close to the downtown area and the staff was tremendously helpful, friendly, and accommodating.

Breakfast was always very filling and delicious. I especially loved the homemade granola and the poached pear dish that was served to us on one of our mornings. It was always very quiet at breakfast; I was always whispering for fear of being overheard by everyone else in the room. There's also tea time at 4 (which we didn't take advantage of) as well as wine and cheese at 5:30 (which we also missed).

“The Bath Street Inn will become a tradition!”

Los Angeles

We booked this Inn site-unseen for two nights for a group of us and it was more than just a reservation and place to stay. From the moment we called to the moment we had to leave - we were treated like the family you are happy to see at the holidays!!! And, as for that nervous feeling you get when you walk into to a hotel or inn and you are about to see your room... is it OK? is it good? is it clean? Forget it - everything is a delight.

First of all, Marti is lovely, professional, caring and warm. She handled our reservation, and was our hostess and our go-to-gal. She welcomed us like family and as quickly disappeared to give us space and privacy. She was instrumental in helping us with our dinner reservation on a Friday night on State St and equally adept at suggesting good hiking trails for a a Saturday afternoon. Some of our party rode bikes from LA - she wouldn't leave until she knew all her ducklings had arrived safely and she greeted them as warmly as if she had known them for years...like I said - the good family!

We stayed in the back building - our room was lovely and the two-person jacuzzi tub was really a two-person tub! We slept well and had everything we could have needed.

We were treated to sweets in the afternoon and savory later in the evening. Breakfast was delicious and just perfect. I thought the fresh fruit, granola, and yoghurt were plenty - and then Marie brought in eggs one day and pancakes another - it was quite unbeleiveable.

We've stayed at other B&Bs in the area and this is not the one with perfect and large grounds, nor is it the one with large rooms but the one we will return to from here on out because it was EVERYTHING a B&B should be. What truly set this place apart from the other lovely places in Sta Barbara was the hospitality and food. Nothing even comes close to the warmth and welcome you experience during your stay at the Bath Street Inn. It was all just right. We could say so much more.

Everyone in our party wants to kow when we are planning a return trip. Most certainly it will be with the Bath Street Inn.

“Exceptional b&b”

We stayed five nights at the Bath Street Inn. This is one of the top b&b's we've been to. The staff is exceptionally helpful, without being intrusive. Kate made sure we found the best restaurants. Marie and Deborah (owners) put us on the right track to the better wineries in Santa Ynez Valley (a 30-45 minute drive). They helped with directions to our next destination in order that we might avoid traffic problems. Marti was fantastic in every way. Note that you are likely to gain weight here -- they have homemade cookies and AMAZING homemade cakes out all the time. The breakfasts are creative and tasty. And our room was taken care of very nicely. We saw some reviews before we booked that said that the location wasn't that convenient -- this is NOT true! The downtown district starts in less than half a mile, and there are excellent restaurants within an easy 10 minute walk. We never used our car in town -- only to go to the Mission, scope out the mountain, and to go to one of the beaches.
