I took my mother for her birthday. I read the reviews on tripadvisor after I had booked the room. I spent a week upset . Upon arrival I realized my concerns had been ridiculous!! It was a lovely room and main room. The breakfasts were wonderful. We were able to walk to the beach and to restaurants. The decor was perfect for my mother. It was a terrific stay and I plan to return with my husband!

“OK place”

It was a OK place. This was the first bed and breakfast we stayed in. It was OK (quite expensive.. but santa barbara is generally more expensive). the house had a old feeling to it.. which was nice initially but got to us in the end. Also, the room we were staying was freezing and the staff couldnt adjust the heater, so we were stuck with a small floor heater. Hate that to happen on a 160$ per night room, eh? This stay came two days after a great stay at Hilton Garden Inn, salt lake city and just before a very memorable stay in El Morocco Inn, Desert Hot springs.. so this place didnt just stand a chance. I wouldnt have gotten this place, if i looked at the reviews first... :(.

Last minute trip so we booked then read the reviews. We were a bit worried but booked so close that there was no time to cancel without a fee. I'm really glad we didn't. We stayed in the Gallaher room. Private entrance was convenient. We were late arrivals and gaining access was simple. No, the sherry in the room isn't any good, but we had our own wine and really enjoyed the whirlpool tub after our 6 hour drive. The room is a bit reminiscent of visiting grandma. Not the classiest B&B room we've stayed in, but comfortable and private. We hardly noticed the train, heard the wistle once. The next morning we enjoyed a simple but delicious breakfast, great coffee-we took a cup for a walk on the beach, only a block away, before breakfast. The service was pleasant and we have no complaints--especially after I left my fleece in the closet and picked it up two days later, washed! We then headed off for a bike ride. The bikes are old but perfect beach cruisers, such a plus. A great way to see SB. Overall, really enjoyed our stay-not a four star hotel but so much better than some random motel in SB.

Bad, bad, bad. It's old rustic, musty and horrible. Never stay there. The place is overpriced. The breakfast is one of the worst I ever had, we skipped it twice. They could not accomodate my boyfriend who is a vegan but we were still charged. The only good thing is the location. Walking distance to the beach. Stay away!!

Oh, how I wish I had read these reviews before booking! (Smacks herself upon the forehead) Upon check-in, we noted the "social hour" spread in the dining room--cheap box wine in a carafe, Kraft cheddar, pretzels and grapes. Cheap cocktail napkins--no plates. Tiny glasses (heaven forbid you drink more than 3 ounces of their terrible wine. I asked the innkeeper on duty how old the house was and was told 1880's!!! I have vast experience with Arts and Crafts houses and he was at least 30 years off.
The room was dark, dingy, and musty. The sheets were cheap and pilled, and did not match the comforter, which did not match the wallpaper, which did not match the curtains...
The website is totally misleading, I would say it could be called false advertising, but I am not a lawyer. We obviously had no ocean view, and we got to listen to the kids in the motel next door having sex all afternoon. Very loud sex. The motel windows are about six feet from your room's windows.
Cheap sherry and cheap candy in room, why bother? Indifferent service.
Please do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere!!! I cannot believe I paid over 600 dollars for a stay in this dump!
